Equinox is more of a smoke horse, really.

I personally don't think preevos are necessary for these families, but other people are free to disagree.

The way I see it is that Slepnir acts like a guardian for our three legendary steeds - the same as Lugia does for the legendary birds, Ho-oh for the running beasts, etc. So, no, it's not a ditched idea.

As for this pre-evo idea, I personally don't think it's necessary to link the two lines. I like them as counterparts, but not as truly related.

Oh I see... It also made me realize how few legendaries are in the GSC archives, correct me if wrong but I think they are only the three steeds, slepnir and angelse arent they? Yeah, its best if slepnir isnt ditched.

Yeah, I think it is only those. Kinda fitting since that was the RBY/GSC area - back when games contained a normal amount of legendaries, and not the absurdly massive amount that DP has...

Yeah, you are right, Ive also noticed that it has the same amount of legendaries that nintendos first gen of pokmon. I also dont see the need in making so much legendaries, but Im glad that Arceus exists.
About the pre-evo, well I cant say I dislike the idea, but just because I am in favor of getting a plausible reason on why does they look so similar.

Hm... well, to be honest I am working on an evolution of Rapidash... a pre-evo would ruin that idea. So it depends on what you'd rather have.
Another possibility would be linking the two lines the same way we did with #PF145 Photictha and #PF146 Benthictha: linking them by the egg. An egg that hatches during daytime could become Ponyta, while it becomes Equinox when it hatches during nighttime.

HEY! ShinE, I LIKE THAT! But if Rapidash has an evolution, then Uniclipse should have one! I think it should be called Gallianight! Galliant, and night or midnight! If that doesn't work, then Eclillop or Eclipspeed! Eclipse, and Gallop or Speed!

I look forward to the Rapidash evo.

And with that in mind, a Uniclipse evo sounds like a good idea.

Uniclipse isn't particularly gallant, though it's always possible it's evo could be. And I think having it's name based on speed would be a bit too similar to Rapidash.

I'm curious what the Rapidash evo is like, and I'm tempted to wait for that to be posted so we can make Uniclipse's evo a proper counterpart.

Linking them by a final evo? As in, both Rapidash and Uniclipse would evolve into the same pokemon? No, I don't think that makes sense. Two pokemon never evolved into the same evolution before, and I can't think of a reason why they ever should.

I don't think incenses are necessary here, actually. An egg from a female Rapidash or Uniclipse can hatch into either, just depending on the time at which it hatches.

I thought Rapidash already had a 3rd evo?
But in the case of Uniclipse how about Hrimnoxi?
Hrimfaxi being the horse that dragged the moon across the sky and nox from equinox?
I suppose then logically Rapidash should evolve into Skimtaxi, Skimfaxi being the horse that dragged the sun across the sky and ta from ponyta.
