I'm not quite sure if this would be a Rock move or a Ground move, but I'll put it here for the moment.

Mine Field
The pokemon tunnels underground (like when a pokemon uses Dig ) and plants several mine-like rock near the surface of the ground. then it comes back above ground and continues the battle as normal. no immediate damage is done, but whenever either pokemon steps on, falls on, accidentally attacks, or otherwise triggers a "mine", it will explode, causing damage to the pokemon. Usually the pokemon that planted the "mines" will remember where it put them and can avoid them, but accidents do happen.
Damage: about 25 per mine.

My fave pokemon is Mew, but FIRE TYPES RULE!

...sounds complex...also sounds like a stronger version of Spikes, which is Ground.

no, spikes hurts a pokemon when it's sent out. this is more damage randomly during the battle.

Sounds a bit hard to translate into game terms... But it does give me a good idea for another move! CI'll have it ready and post it in the ???? type section soon!

maybe i could try to simplify this...

Mine Field
Pokemon plants mine-like rocks directly under the field
Damage: about 25 per mine
Effects: each turn, 20% chance pokemon who used Mine Field will receive damage, and 75% chance opposing pokemon will receive damage.

90% is kinda high for a 1-hit KO, even for a self-faint move...I'd say this move would only be learned by one or two species and pretty close to the end of their move lists.

So, Rock Tomb with worse accuracy, less damage and stronger side effects. Why is a move that drops rocks Ground-type? And what's supposed to happen if this move is used outside of caves?

Basically, a sand drilling attack. It digs up more sand, until the field eventually caves in on the 5th turn.

Yes. It does the 480 damage on turn 5, and the accuracy is now 85.
It also does 1/4 recoil damage each turn, because the field cracks as sand is dug up.

if you had 1/4 recoil, teh pokemmon would faint before it got to teh 5th turn. 1/4 recoil takes 1/4 of energy from teh pokemon each turn, so at the end of teh 4th turn it'd faint. and that's without the opponent attacking it.

Not neccesarily. the damage of move recoil is a fraction of the damage dealt, not the total HP of the pokemon using it.
