Nah not really. Seeing as their names were written in the summary and as soon as you caught them it said "(insert name here) has caught a (insert Pokemon name here). And during evolution it said the name of the Pokemon that was evolving and what it was evolving into. But I did subconsciously call them that without thinking even though I knew their proper names.
