Once everyone got off the boat onto the docks of Myrtlebloom Town, a young man by the name of Xanon walked to the Pokemon Labrotory. Although he wasn't showing it, he was beyond nervous.
"Hello?" he asked as he knocked on the door. "Is anyone here?"

"Yes, come right in, it isn't locked." Came the call from inside, along with the sound of a bit of a scuffle.

Xanon quickly entered the building, a little worried about what the sound truley was. Once he was inside, he met what appeared to be the Professor.
"Hello, there," he said with as much courage as he could. "I'm Xanon, and I was wondering if I could start my Pokemon journey here."

Well of course you can, I suppose you will be wanting a Pokemon and pokedex," Said Professor Hickory, "I have the pokedexes right on a table in the other room, as for a Pokemon would you like a random choice, a grass type, a fire type, or a water type. What was your name again? I'm Professor Hickory."
Xanon also noticed that the professors pockets were bulging with what looked like pokeballs.

Becoming a little curious about the pokeballs in Professor Hickory's pockets, Xanon cleared his throat and said, "My name's Xanon, and I like a random starter, please sir."

"Okay then, just follow me," The Professor led the way down a small corridor into a large room with 5 tables, the first had pokedexes, the second had pokeballs labeled with a leaf sticker, the third had pokeballs labeled with a campfire sticker, the fourth had pokeballs labeled with a raindrop sticker and finally in the back of the room there was the table which was completely overflowing, with each pokeball labeled with a question mark. "Just take a pokedex and go to the table in the back, that's where the random starters are." The Professor now began to shift uncomfortably from foot to foot, "Soon, I'll be able to get out of here..." he mumbled, hardly loud enough to hear.

"Alrighty then."
Xanon grabbed a Pokedex, and then followed to the back table. Once he went to the large pile of Pokeballs, he cautiously tried to pick a Pokeball. However, he tripped, almost causing the pile to spill. As he landed face-first on the floor, a Pokeball landed on his hand.
"Um," he said, a little confused. "I'll take this one, I guess."

Even as Xanon spoke the pokeball opened sending out a beam of light which materialized into a Timburr. "Timburr, tim," It cried as it helped Xanon to his feet.

"WHOA!!!" Xanon cried as he examined the Muscular Pokemon, especially its large square log. "I've only heard about these Pokemon! Cool!"
He then turned to Professor Hickory. "So," he asked, puzzled. "What now?"

"Well, you should go out and travel to each of the gyms, when you collect eight different badges you will be able to go into the league, and if you need anything you will be able to call the lab any time using your pokedex."
Explained the Professor. "I need to go and pick up a shipment of labeled pokeballs, so if you have any more questions call me on the pokedex, good bye."

"Um," Xanon said, a little confused on how to communicate with a Pokedex. "Alright then. Let's go, Timburr!"
"Tim-BURR!!"
So the two headed off to Route 1, searching for a new companion. Eventually, they discovered a Ratatta that, even though put up a good fight, ended up catching. According to Xanon's Pokedex, this Ratatta was a female, at level 2, and knows Tackle and Tail Whip.
That's when a big question hit Xanon.
After figuring out how to call with his Pokedex, he contacted Professor Hickory.
"Excuse me, Professor," he replied bashfully, "but where is the first Gym at?"

"Oh, when you reach carob town, in the North, go through Falsetrail Forest, which is to the West, after you find your way through, you'll reach Gladetree city, which is where the first gym is."

"Ok thanks!" Xanon replied, but, before hitting the OFF button, he noticed a girl walking into the Lab.

Serena, a girl from the Hoenn region, walked into the Lab and tried to direct her attention to Professor Hickory.
"Excuse me," she asked, a little impatient in her tone. "Are you Professor Hickory?"

((just now noticed the main basis of serena, the name matches and everything XD))
"Okay, if you'll follow me please..." Professor Hickory said as he went through a door into the next room, and gestured towards the table in the back. "That table has the random starters, and," he gestured to the pokedexes "If you don't already have a pokedex, take one."

"Ok then, thank you!" she said, almost yelling with a little smile. She picked up a Pokedex, and then went to the random Pokemon pile. She picked up two Pokeballs, but, before she could decide which one she would choose, the one on her right opened up, revealing a....

Kolibrisk, after flying around for a while it decided to hover next to Serena's head.

"That's a Kolibrisk, just scan it with your new pokedex to find out what it can do."

"Aww!" Serena cried out. "It's adorable!"
She quickly scanned it with her Pokedex and revealed that Kolibrisk is an Electric/Flying-type, its ability is Speed Boost, its gender is Male, and his known moves are Peck and Thundershock.
"Oh, yes," Serena added. "Who was that boy you were talking to earlier? He seemed like he's not too far away."

Suddenly realizing what he said, Serena's face blushed uncontrolably.
"Well," she stammered, "you see...uh...he's...an old friend of mine, and...well...I just wanted to...to..."
She trailed off, only to 'remember' what she was going to say.
"...join him on his quest!"
Kolibrisk just shook his head; he knew what was going on.
"What, two's a company! Anyways, thanks for the Pokedex and the Kolibrisk, Professor! See ya!"
And with that, she dashed off, with her Kolibrisk right behind her.

Serena was running as fast as her legs were running; she just had to meet up with this boy.
Maybe it's Xanon, she thought to herself, and if he is Xanon, then he'll be so happy!
She was, however, thinking too much, for when she opened her eyes, she bumped directly into the boy.
"Are you okay?!" he asked, startled.
"Uh, I'm-"
Serena looked up to see the boy. It was Xanon after all; a grown-up, handsome Xanon. She couldn't control her blushing.
"Xanon!" she squealed, "It's been so long!"
Xanon stood there for five seconds, then asked:
"How do you know my name?"
Serena's heart shattered like a Rhydon stepping on a twig. How does he not remember me?
"You don't remember?" she asked, trying to hold tears, "Sinnoh? Two years ago? Mt. Coronet?"
Xanon thought about it for a minute, then replied by saying, "The only thing I remember from Sinnoh is my training with Marlene. I'm sorry, but I think you have me mistaken for someone else." With that, he began to leave, but Timburr and Rattata stopped him.
"Oh," he said to himself, "You want to...travel with me? I mean, this region is kinda big, so I don't-"
"YES!!!"
Serena's squeal of excitement made everyone, even Kolibrisk, jump. Then, Xanon realize that Kolibrisk is the only Pokemon that Serena has.
"So," he replied softly, "Want help getting another Pokemon?" Serena seemed confused. "Well, you don't want to challenge the Gyms with one Pokemon."
"Oh, your right," she giggled. "Let's go find some!"
