You can see a girl watching Power Rangers and if you say anything to her your automatically sexist. So I don't see why boys can't watch MLP. Demographics or not it all comes down to a matter of choice. It's always good to have variety in your life and if MLP provides that variety then I don't see why you shouldn't watch it. And if you really like MLP you shouldn't care about what people think. You should do things because you want to, not because people tell you to do it. Of course I'm not a Brony (I'd rather watch Blues Clues) and I probably never will become a Brony, but I have nothing against Bronies.

Hooray, you're so important now. Better have a whole group of people under the same name and same importance promoting a so-called "culture". You like a children's cartoon show, who the hell cares. It's like the whole "ANONYMOUS IS LEGION" thing. Liking My Little Pony is not important enough to have a culture, it's not important enough to be revolutionary, it's not important enough to actually have "Coming out of the closet as a brony" as an actual thing. My Little Pony was not first at anything, nor it is the strongest at anything. My Little Pony is no more than a well-done cartoon whose only reason for being so popular on the internet is because of goddamn Pony threads on /b/ and even half of those were driven by trolls or rule34. Most of the "how you became a BRONY" stories are uninteresting, too. They may seem interesting at first, but they all boil down to "I had skeptical thoughts at first, then I watched some and I liked it". And then you should continue liking it, not build a whole undeserving cult around it.

JDLJDL wrote:Gelatop, you really didn't understand my post, did you. It's not like Pokémon. We don't call ourselves "Pokébros". We call ourselves the generic term of "Pokémon fans". We don't announce to come "out of the closet as a Pokémon fan", we don't tell stories about "how we became Pokémon fans". This all, for a franchise a decade old that is truly "HISTORICAL", in contrast to a cartoon that only for two years became well known to only really the internet. Nor did haters make you grow. /b/ grew more and more to ponies because everyone hates the mods. When the mods banned pony threads, of course the users would go out of the way to disobey the mods. It's not because of the "haters" that they "unified", they just tried to troll the mods on independent occasions. Somehow, the pony thing spread to sites like Reddit and the whole thing blew out of proportion. Again, the cartoon is no where great or important enough to warrant cult-like phrases like "the Hate makes us grow". You're attributing too much importance to the whole series, putting it in too much grandeur. It can be a community, and it can be a community of cooperation, that's fine, but it's gotten to a point where it's looking like worship. Which is, again, fine if it were applied to something truly "HISTORICAL", such as Mario or Pokémon. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is not the first My Little Pony, nor is it the first cartoon to appeal to a wider audience, nor is it the first cartoon to have a fan following on the internet, and nor is it the best at any of those. It is a good show, but always remember that it's a 20-minute long advertisement for Hasbro.

This is exactly what blew Bronies out of proportion. People couldn't handle the fact that boys liked a girls show. Big whoop it's not like it's apocalypse. Just get on with your own business. Like I said people don't mind when girls make fanbases for shows like Power Rangers which are aimed at boys, but when boys make a fanbase for a girl show people can't handle it. I'm not taking any sides, but people should ignore these little things and get on with their lives. Like I said what you don't know can't hurt you.
