Hey Pokémon Fans.
I've started making a Pokémon Battle Simulator, which I'm eventually going to make into an RPG (unless I get distracted). I have a history of not finishing what I start, but "The Something Or Other Dex" proves at least that I'm capable of finishing projects! Perhaps it was the community support that enabled me to combat procrastination and get it done. Based on that hypothesis, I'm sharing this project with you too! I know I have the programming knowledge to make this game reality, but I also need moral support to prevent me from simply giving up. You can also help me by doing some simple data entry for Pokémon. The Pokémon data needs to be in a very specific format so that my game is able to read it. I've provided a template with Bulbasaur's stats for you to use if you'd like to help me out. You can type up Nintendo Pokémon or even fakemon that you have permission to use (They should have at least a small sprite and a larger sprite too, more specifically the small sprite you see in the Pokémon selection screen which bobs up and down and the in-battle sprite. Sugi-style art would be nice too but not needed.)
Template:
I may reward people for doing data entry with demos of the game or special artworks you can request etc.
Progress so far includes interpreting the Pokémon data into actual individual Pokémon. I haven't made attack/ability data yet, I'll add a template for that too once I do.... Not looking forward to writing all that out and programming for attacks and abilities with strange effects! I've also made an inventory system and a customisable character who can move around an overworld but the two are currently separate games that I will fuse together later.
I know the majority of fan-made Pokémon games die off quietly long before completion, but that's not going to stop me from trying. It's really just a fun hobby, and if it takes off and eventually becomes a playable, enjoyable game that would be great. Once I have a nice structure to work on, with complete battle and overworld features, I have some big plans for the game.
