In the middle of the day, a huge cruise ship approached Anchore Town. Kenny, a young man with black hair and seemingly blue eyes, stood on the deck, looking at the city through binoculars. He was trying to find the lab of Professor Idaho, but was interrupted by his temporary travel partner and soon-to-be rival, Dani. "Hey, Kenny! Check out my new outfit!" she said. Kenny turned and saw that Dani did indeed have a new outfit. She had what looked to be a tan, waffle patterned shirt and a matching pair of pants. "You look like an ice cream cone" Kenny said jokingly. "At least I have style!" she said, pushing Kenny. But she wasn't mad, since she knew her friend didn't mean it. If she'd thought otherwise, she might have cried. She normally wouldn't venture far from her home region, but after she had beaten Kenny in a battle, he asked her to become his rival on this adventure. What Kenny loved best was a challenge, and Dani gave him one. In fact, Kenny's love of conquering obstacles was the reason he was starting a new journey in Bombur. As the ship got close to the little port, Kenny took out his badge box, filled with badges from all over the world. Another hobby Kenny had was collecting badges. He had never before went to a region with the intent of becoming its champion, but he liked battling tough opponents, which the gym leaders were, and he liked looking at the shiny, colorful badges. He was only twenty years old, but had already collected thirty of them. His favorite gym so far was the Blackthorn City gym in the Johto region. He relived his favorite battles in his mind for a few minutes, falling asleep at some point, only to be shook out of his dream by Dani. He had been leaning on the rail, and almost fell over the side into the water. Luckily, she had grabbed him. When Kenny realized this, he thanked his friend. "I almost took an unwanted bath" he said. They sat down and told stories for a while before the ship docked into port.
Once off the ship, Kenny and Dani raced to the lab, not needing to go far thanks to the small size of Anchore Town. It was easy to find, too, being the biggest building in the little village, though a mansion on the west end of town came close. Once they'd caught their breath, they entered the building to recieve their newest pokemon.
