Just wanna say I love this place. I've been coming up with new pokemon for a while now, and am glad I finally have a place to share my ideas and talk to others who like to do this. I hope you guys don't stop, even if the Pokemon franchise comes to an end.

Don't worry about their franchise. It makes WAY too much money to end any time soon.

Despite the great quality of the most recent installments in the series (Black and White), it is a fact, though fans are not often willing to admit, that Pokémon sales have been much lower than before. In fact, the sales of Black and White are actually half that of HeartGold and SoulSilver .
In January 2012, the president of Nintendo Satoru Iwata responded in an interview that

"The Pokémon team has discussed in length regarding the matter of canceling the series ... and starting anew. We, along with developers of Game Freak have decided that Pokémon is becoming stale, and favor developing a new action series revolving around hunting and shooting down terrorists .... Miyamoto is in full agreement with this proposal."

However, the decision is not final. and many fans have already started rallying against this action. From history, it is most likely that Nintendo will not respond to its fans.
Personally, I support Nintendo for taking this bold action.

It's definitely not just Chimera's problem. At bare minimum it's my problem too. The only link among those that didn't lead to a 404 or similar error was the Wikipedia article on Iwata.

The cognitive dissonance between Pokémon and killing terrorists is so extreme that even if Nintendo and/or Game Freak really did announce it, at a time of year that is not April 1st or days immediately prior, I'd honestly suspect it of being a prank on their part. Nonetheless, even if Nintendo does end the Pokémon series, history suggests it will have about as much effect on internet Pokéfandom as a blunt spoon on the Great Wall of China. Our creative energy reached self-sustaining levels long ago.
