A quick wiki trip tells us that amethysts were worn by ancient Greeks as a ward against intoxication. If we stretch that meaning to include poisoning, then this pokemon could have a psychic subtype, since it resists -- and is super-effective against -- poison.

I have a tonne of ideas for this thing, but I don't want to be overbearing. If you would like to hear more, just ask.

I would love to hear more. No need to worry about being overbearing here. Love the psychic idea too, since in the pokemon TCG, psychic types had a purple background on their cards. Also, and I bet you've thought of it already, but maybe its ability could be Immunity, or something to do with healing its allies of poison.

Immunity/healing allies of poison IS good, but my first choice for an ability would be something that works like a light clay; extending the duration of reflect and light screen since I had the notion that the protection angle could be expanded and its movelist be peppered with defensive and support moves of that ilk, perhaps involving the creation of a new move that cures and prevents poison for all allies and works like the aforementioned screens (and so is affected by light clay-esque effects, but that may be too overpowered if you combine that with the ability suggestion.)

On the appearance aspect, I would advise against humanoid, we have a lot of those as it is.

If you are wanting a new name for this beast, may I suggest Ametheptic (amethyst + antiseptic), if you go through with these suggestions?

I like the new ability, but perhaps it can be able to have two different ones (the new one and Immunity)
And what should the new ability be called? The best idea I have for its name is Shield Boost, but you may have a better idea.

The new move, however, is more or less overshone by Safeguard. The only time where you can't use an item to simply cure the poison is when it most gets abused for Guts or Poison Heal (aka competitive play)

How's this sound for its look? An amethyst crystal thats floating in the air, with eyes, but no visible nose or mouth. I think it goes without saying that whatever it is, its egg group should be Mineral, however, since it's a community work, I'd love to hear anyone's opinion on any of what we have so far.

Aaaah I'm sorry but no.
Floaty things with eyes things are terribly cliched and I advise against it. Maybe we can base it from some sort of creature related to healing (or maybe alcohol too).

The Mineral egg group is the only logical option.

Also, I suggest we widen the scope of its abilities to more generalized healing, focusing on poison sounds too gimmicky. Sort of supported by this this.

@flarsable: I completely forgot about safeguard. Silly old me!
Perhaps it can have healer and immunity; I was going to suggest an ability that extends safeguard duration, but that's a bit too gimmicky. An item that does the same would be most welcome though.

@jae: The way you've written the name in the first post makes it 1 letter too long. I'd advise getting rid of the s in the middle.

@cacapulse: the legends you linked to were given in greater detail wikipedia. I avoided mentioning them because by those standards, the only living thing that would be appropriate would be beautiful hellenistic women, and humanoids are just as overdone on PF as floating lumps.

rock monsters are hard to do these days.

Very true... Gigalith's form really took away the last thing a Rock-Type Pokemon could become, but I'll try and give a description (although when it comes to creating Fakemon, the description is the hardest part for me).
If possible, could this incorporate some type of fish design? I'm only asking this due to the Amethyst being the Birthstone of February, and the Zodiac signs that represent February are Aquarius and Pisces, and both are related to water.

Expanding on that fish idea, how about a cleaner fish?

I was thinking of something more suited to terrestrial environments though, since this is a quartz crystal.

Well, it could still be a fish...Stunfisk was Electric/Ground, though it was clearly based on an electric ray, which I think is a fish, but I'm not sure, and the Tynamo evolution family, which was based on lancelets and eels. My point is that a pokemon's appearance doesn't always reflect its type.
