So as a quick refresher and some editing to the shard evolution thing, this is what my idea is now... Shardery would evolve at Level 30, but depending on if it has one of the 9 different shards or not influences it's 1st type as Diabolurn along with color. Though it would have a different type, it's moveset should stay the same... the new type just being what makes up it's composition.

No Shard= Psychic
Red = Fire
Yellow = Electric
Blue = Water
Green = Grass
Black = Dark
Cyan = Ice
Orange = Ground
Purple = Ghost OR Poison (I still think Ghost would at least keep it's ties to it being related to the Dusk Stone, but that's just me.)
White = Light

Oh, right, Dusk Stone, carry on with Ghost.

If it determines Diabolurn's primary type, they should have different movelists. Burmy determined secondary type and Wormadam got differences, and it can't really be primary if it can't even be learned naturally.

It could. I did not consider matching Electric, Ice and Fire-type moves to each other. I only considered replacing the original moves with moves of other types of similar power.

And Thunderbolt and Ice Beam are variants. Exact same power, accuracy, PP, and secondary effects (according to type, that is). And, your movelists have Psychic type moves when Diabolurn is only Psychic without a Shard.

So, here's what I've come up with (for all forms), basing off of Coolsteph's and Shardery's movelists and in shard order None/Red/Orange/Yellow/Green/Blue/Cyan/Purple/Black/White:

I assumed Diabolurn was x/Ground with a shard equipped, not Psychic/x, which is why I kept the Psychic-type moves.

It is x/Rock. And, so if you thought that they weren't Psychic type with a Shard, wouldn't that mean you remove the Psychic type moves? This just isn't your day for logic (counting Lightning as today, stfu it's close enough)

I was not being (too) illogical. I simply did not read the necessary information, which was why I supposed it was Ground-type. I may also have brought about a miscommunication earlier.
(Persons of this topic, if I happen to say anything else about moves in this topic, closely inspect my offered ideas before integrating it. Flarsable is the Move Master today, not I.)

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it usual that if a Pokemon evolves through some method and also requires an item, wouldn't the pre-evolved stage be found sometimes holding the item that assists in the evolution. Might sound confusing, but I'll try to explain it.

Magmar evolves into Magmortar through trading while holding a Magmarizer, and in Pokemon Platinum, Wild Magmars have a 5% chance of holding the Magmarizer. This also occurs with Electabuzz (Electrizer), Seadra (Dragon Scale), Happiny (Oval Stone), Slowpoke and Poliwhirl (King's Rock).

Anyone else feel like Wild Shardery can sometimes be found holding one of these shards?

Seems just about right, it wouldn't be much of stretch to say that the Shardery may have grabbed one before it was caught.

Well... there could simply be 9 different chances for each shard. 2% for each one? That way, it gives a 18% of getting a shard in general.

Hm, I think this solution could work.
Green/Red/Yellow/Blue Shard - 1.25%
Orange/Black/Cyan/White/Purple Shard - 1%
In total, a 10% chance of getting a shard. I based them by the stone's rarity, with Fire, Leaf, Water and Thunder Stones being the most common (They can be bought), while the other 5 are incredibly rare to find. Any objections?

0.25% won't make that much of a difference though.
How about 1% for each and another 1% for something else, like Light Clay.

On the other hand, there is also a sizable amount of pokemon that don't follow this trend: Porygon, Porygon2, Clamperl, Onix, Scyther, Feebas, Rhydon, Dusclops, Gligar, and Sneasel.

First off, I was dead for about 2 months. (Not like anyone cares about the newbie.)

Thankfully to a copy of White on the ground, I'm back into Pokemon after a long period of Yu-gi-oh obsession. Current goal is to finish and polish the dust off Diabolurn's other typing's movesets. (Unless the idea is too crazy. Obviously, it probably is unless others say. Just call me crazy.)

It's not crazy, just overambitious.
I think it would be best to make this one more akin to rotom, as in have only five forms + base, for a total of six, perhaps just five since I think it'd be best to stick to the original red, green, blue and yellow shards. I also think it would be best for shardery and basic diabolurn to be rock/ghost instead of psychic, especially since shardery seems to be covered in ghostly gas.
