A man in his twenties, wearing a lab coat, was bustling about the messy Pokemon Laboratory in an attempt to get everything sufficiently orderly for the visiting beginner trainers he would have that day. Wait a minute, the thought reminded him, Didn't someone knock on the door like an hour ago? Darnit! He dropped his stack of papers on a nearby table and ran toward the entrance to the building. Just as the young man outside looked away, the blonde lab assistant came roaring around the corner toward the door. He then proceeded to run smack into it at full speed, startling the young man on the other side. Rubbing his forehead, the man pulled the door inward and addressed the newcomer, "Forgot it was a pull. It happens. Welcome to the Anchore Lab, though! I assume you are here to receive your first PKMN? Just follow me." He led the young man, who had introduced himself as Vuru, into a large classroom-like hall with a blackboard and a bunch of desks piled high with assorted Pokeballs that were divided into categories.

"Thank you for letting me in, I thought no one was here for a moment and if there were I did not want to sound rude by knocking too much. Vuru said while following the man who had let him in. "Yes, I'm here to obtain my first Pokemon... I'm really excited. I've seen alot of people battle on television. You know... in the Championships or tournaments. I've heard it takes a lot of hard work to get to that level." Vuru told the man as they walked into a room that was the classroom of the lab, or at least that is what Vuru assumed considering the blackboard in the room. The one thing that caught his eye were several desks, each that had some piles of Pokeballs. These were probably the Pokeballs that held the Pokemon that were being handed out.

"Interesting," the lab aide commented, "You know Sukus is a challenging partner, but its trainers are greatly rewarded for their hard work and determination. The last trainer to become Champion actually began with a Sukus. His name started with an A...Hmm.." Vuru watched as the man across from him's concentration slowly slipped into his own world, and the young boy snapped to get his attention back. "Oh yes," uttered the startled lab aide, "Here is the Sukus-category Pokeballs. Why don't you grab one and let it come out? You could even nickname it if you wanted." He motioned to the leftmost table to the rightmost division of Pokeballs as the young man stepped toward them.

"So Sukus is challenging... why is that?" Vuru asked as he looked at the pile of Pokeballs that the man pointed out. He reached for one of the balls and picked it up. "On second thought... it doesn't really matter. I'm not someone who really cares whether or not something is challenging... let's get this on!" Vuru said with vigor while pressing the button on the ball.

When the Pokeball opened up a small, semicircular Pokemon began to take shape. When it was finished, a blue leech Pokemon stood there as Shine Stars glittered around it. "Amazing," Aaron exclaimed, "You got the one shiny Sukus in the whole batch! What incredible luck..Well is there anything you want to name it? Once you take care of that issue, you can go place it on that machine in the corner to find out more about your partner." The man in the lab coat gestured toward a large, rectangular machine next to a nearby wall with a ledge that jutted out, containing a hemisphere-shaped slot that looked Pokeball-sized, approximately.

""Hmm..." Vuru muttered confused while contemplating a name for the blue leech creature which gave Vuru a fairly dull, almost annoyed look. "Well... maybe I'll call you... no that won't do... I got it! Hemo! I'll call you Hemo!" Vuru told the Sukus, though it didn't really seem to care about what he said. Though Vuru was excited for a moment, he then finally realized what Aaron said about the Sukus being shiny... "Can I ask you a question... what did you mean about Hemo being shiny?" he asked the lab aide.

Aaron proceeded to answer the boy's question as he recalled his PKMN and strolled over to the machine on the nearby wall, "What I mean by shiny is that is has a coloration pattern that is different from the average member of its species. This is a most interesting phenomenon in wild PKMn and is believed to be related to the mythical Shin[E]. It is all very interesting. You see, Shin[E]..." The professor's assistant babbled about this subject for awhile, but Vuru's face regained its bored, annoyed look, resulting in him tuning out Aaron and placing the ball into the slot as a distraction. The machine lit up, cutting off Aaron mid-rant. Information soon appeared on the screen:

"Well, look at that, it's already ..*mumbles*.. o'clock," strangely spoke the lab aide before hurrying off into some dark corridor and leaving the young man behind, curious.

"Wait... where are you going?" Vuru says out loud to Aaron, but he had already left the room. He looked at what just happened curiously, but he guessed maybe there was something that he had to do real quick. He turns around and picks up the Pokeball from the machine, with the information on the screen disappearing in the process. He now looked at Hemo who was glancing around the room. Vuru bent down to look at his partner and told it, "Alright Hemo, we are going to be partners from now on, okay? The boy stretched out his hand towards Hemo, but the leech looked at him, then proceeded to hop back a little bit. "What? What's the problem? Is something wrong with me?" Vuru asks Hemo who promptly replies with a bored "Suku" then proceeding to stick out it's tongue at Vuru. Vuru looked at Hemo strangely while thinking to himself... Maybe this was what he meant about challenging...

"Sure thing! Just wait one moment!" Vuru yelled back, then looks at Hemo and points his Pokeball at him and presses the button, shooting a beam of red light that touches Hemo, turning him into red light which then goes back into the button. He then gets up and moves into the same dark corridor Aaron had went through.

Upon the young man's entrance through the doorway, stadium lights kick on all throughout the corridor, which is suspiciously wide. It seems like a large room. As the lights kick on and illuminate what was once concealed in darkness, the young man's vision reveals a large Pokemon battle arena with Aaron standing across the field in the opposing Trainer box...

The boy was in awe... he never thought there would be such a thing here, especially in a lab. He was also alarmed on what exactly was going on... this was a Pokemon battle arena... maybe Aaron was challenging him? If he was... this was going to be his first battle! "I get it! You want to challenge me don't you? To test me? For what?" he asks Aaron who was across the other side of the arena.

A red beam of light comes out of Aaron's Pokeball, the light then materializes into a dark blue crow-like Pokemon which then gives out a quick "Never!". "Well... I guess as this is my only choice, I should send him out anyway. Come on in Hemo!" Vuru throws out a Pokeball that reveals the shiny Sukus who promptly lands on the ground. Just as the leech Pokemon appears, Nevermore hops up a little bit and accelerates towards Hemo beak first. Before Hemo even reacts, he is promptly hit by Nevermore and pushed back a few feet. "Uh... we already got hurt, but we will at least comeback strong! Use Growl!" Vuru says to Hemo. Despite this Hemo didn't seem to bother looking or even acknowledge what Vuru was saying, rather looking at Nevermore with a nasty look. He then begins to lean back and then leaps forward in Nevermore's direction in an attempt to do a Tackle.

I told him it was a difficult choice, but they never listen. Haha, he seems like a smart young man, though. I'm sure he will get his partner under control. Expecting the Growl, however, Nevermore was unable to account for the unexpected Tackle and was hurt by the full force of its opponent's attack. Aaron gave orders while Nevermore was still recoiling from the attack, "Growl and slow Hemo's assault!" The bird PKMN began to caw loudly, while still spinning in the air, emitting the Attack-reducing call in waves of sound, prior to it recovering. These seemed to temporarily shock and paralyze the enemy's Sukus.

The soundwaves hit Hemo, causing him to shudder for a moment, but he eventually shakes off the short bout of confusion. "I guess I can't complain too much on how you hit Nevermore, but we need to work together Hemo! Go and Ta..." Vuru explains, but is interrupted by Hemo bouncing towards Nevermore again in blind rage, attempting a repeat of Tackle.

Is that progress if they were on the same page, but it wasn't technically listening to him? Aaron wondered. "Try to dodg--," Aaron was cut off mid order by the surprisingly quick progression of his opponent's Tackle. Having had two hits in a row scored on his bird PKMN, the lab aide gritted his teeth and managed to squeeze out a command for Nevermore to use Tackle itself. The first Growl hadn't done much in the way of minimizing the damage his opponent caused with each successive hit, so the Dark/Flying-type was still sent reeling, but it recovered in slightly less time than the last hit. Then it launched itself at the Water-type, ready to inflict some blunt force trauma of its own.
