Simon was awoken by a cawing sound. He tapped the head of his Magtie alarm clock and checked his calendar.

"Yes! Finals day at school! Today, I'll get my first Pokemon and win my first Gym Badge!"

Simon half-ran, half-walked down the stairs and sat down at the dining room table. His mom smiled, "Good morning, Simon! I made you a good breakfast. You'll need all the energy you can get today.

"Thanks, mom."

His mom wiped her eyes and said, "It's finally happening. Today you're going to be starting your journey." Simon groaned, "Mom, I'm not a little kid anymore." She nodded and said, "I know, but you'll always be my little baby." Simon smiled and hugged her, wolfed down his food and left with a quick, "Bye!"

As he arrived at the Trainer's School, Simon eagerly looked around for Professor Idaho. He had already planned this day out in his head. "I'm going to get a Sukus and defeat Aaron!" He could barely contain his excitement.

For some strange reason, the building was almost completely empty save a few other kids walking around. Simon headed over to the door leading to Professor Idaho's office and knocked three times.

From another room, Simon heard some commotion and something hitting the ground with a crash. From the room emerged a young man in a lab coat, brushing off his clothes. He introduced himself, "Hello, I'm Aaron. Professor Idaho is indisposed at the moment, but how can I be of assistance?"
