So long as you recognise it's designed to be shallow and make money, I guess. And also that it's the producers who do all the work. Next time you listen, play the drinking game! Set a load of pop music going, then:
Step 1: As soon as you realise the song is about the singer's positive feelings for someone else, take a shot.
Step 2: For every awkward metaphor that doesn't really make sense, take a shot.
Step 3: Die of alcohol poisoning.

I think a shot is too much. There is hardly a song within the last 3 or more years that hasn't been about it. Well, there has been some, but guess what? They're just about the singer being pissed because they were dumped instead.

I'm thoroughly a metalhead? No not true... Hm... I like Rock, Metal and Rap, but prefer edgier subgenres like Death Metal, Thrash, Punk, Alternative, Heavy, and Metal Core. Rap and Hip Hop are Rap and Hip Hop... Can't really find a subgenre that'd make sense... Guess I like Rap that talks about subjects that would normally be picked in the other genres I like.

I.e. : If music doesn't tell me the world sucks, life sucks, we're all conformists and we're just dying until we can break free, I feel like I'm more alone then the last Fraggle.

Hardly a POP song. Exactly my point, hence Step 3.
There's an entire gamut of emotions and endless stories to explore, but you won't find them in pop.
