Anchore Town in mid-summer; the sun shone, Swablu sang… And one Mr. James P. Quick prepared to embark on his very own Pokemon journey.
"Right… X-Transceiver? Check. Money? One check of $3000." He smirked, loving the fact that Bombur wasn't plagued by the economic downturn like so many other regions. "Clothes? Check. Sugegasa? Oh, yes, checkity-check! And, Dignified Umbrella (tm)? Check! Scott would never let me live it down if I left without this!" And so, slinging his rucksack over his shoulder, James set off down the stairs.
"Bye, Mumma!" he called.
"I love you, honey! Call me soon!"
"I will!" James was
almost out the door when two big-headed Pokemon ran up and barked expectantly
at him. "Awwww! Sister, Abby, you came to say goodbye?" he asked the
Granbull and Snubbull. They whined in response.
"Oh, Sister-Doodle, you can't come with me. I'm sorry. You have to stay here and look after Abby and mom for me," he cooed, scratching the Granbull's ears. She pouted, but lumbered off. Abby still stared at him, as if to say, 'Good, now that she's gone, we can go!'
"No, Abby. Stay here, problem child," James chuckled. “I know how you are. All ready to go out and do stuff, but when we get five steps down Route A, you’ll be whining for Mumma.” Abby frowned and went off to find Sister. James called out a last goodbye and left.
Anchore Town was a nice little place, all-in-all. James liked living here and was somewhat sad to leave. After moving from Pallet Town, home to the world-famous Red, Anchore had become a second home to him. It had all the things he liked in a town: quaint New England architecture, good food, friendly people, and a scenic seaside placement. He had dawdled on leaving on his journey for partly those reasons, plus he’d miss his mother.
He was, after all, 16. Most of his friends had left at 10. He missed them, but had made friends with others who had stayed behind as their friends and family left on Pokemon journeys. Scott Miller both stood out in his mind. Scott had left with his Miaundead (Man, had he gotten lucky!). After that, James thought it was high time to start his journey.
Before he knew it, James was at the lab and he grinned. It was time! "Heya, Professor Idaho! I'm here to get my new little buddy!"
