Looks like it could be related to Gligar in some way. I like it! However, I have some notes:

- The first four learnable moves are all 5 levels apart. Staff tend not to like lists that conform to such a pattern. While the next move is 3 levels away, the move after that is once again 5 levels away. It happens again with the last three moves in the list.

- It's move list is kind of small, which can be attributed to its lack of Other moves; it has only three of these (Swords Dance, Calm Mind, and Double Team). Usually, moves are learned in a stucture of Attack-Other-Attack (or sometimes Attack-Other-Other-Attack (and Attack-Attack-Other, but those are RARE)). An addition of more Other moves is recommended.

It's fine to have that sort of pattern, it just has to be regular. You could go with every 5 levels, but that's kind of boring. You could go with 5-3-5-3 or 5-5-3... I could go on. The main issue here is the spacing of levels doesn't follow a set pattern.

I agree with the other comment however. It needs a few more status moves.

Finally, I would just like to know the rationale behind the typing; I recall the tengu is kind of a jerk in japanese mythology. (Shiftry is based on one!)

The type really has nothing to do with the Pokemon's behavior (Blinkyte is a jerk too), but it's Light-type because it uses pulses of light for attack and defense; and it's Wind-type because it manipulates air currents and updrafts to fly quickly and silently. Just because it's Light-type and not Dark-type, however, doesn't mean it's nice. Light Is Not Good, if you go by TV Tropes.

I do agree with your statement about the pattern and the status moves but it actually has 5 "Other" moves (Leer, Flash, Swords Dance, Calm Mind, and Double Team). You are right though, I will re-arrange the moves and add more Other moves.

Bah, well now I feel silly having posted another pokemon that glides and relies on thermal updrafts. It's even got the same general color scheme. Ah well.

Anyways, I like the idea. Something about the 'silent hunter' theme bugs me for some reason though, and I'm not sure why. It's like he seems like he should be pretty BA but something about blinky lights doesn't quite fit the image. That might just be me though.

Like sovereign said, it reminds me of Gligar, but I don't know how it would be related based on its typing.

(Unless Gligar is ground/wind based on PF's type changes? I should check that)

But yeah, cool idea.

It only turns on the "blinky lights" if it's attacked. Normally, only its eyes would glow, and that would be so scary in the middle of the night seeing those green eyes glaring back at you. ._. And then you try to catch it and suddenly you're blinded by a brilliant flash of light. And when your eyes adjust and stop watering, it's gone.

Seems like it's somewhat like Umbreon's glowing rings-- they serve as an intimidating feature, though in this case it's the glowing eyes that get you, and if they don't, then it Flashes you and escapes into the night.

For Cacapulse's question, usually when I make new Pokemon I think of the type and stats first, and then make something that matches them. (Poison/Ice or Magic/Poison are the worst with these, you have no idea how long it took me thinking before I just said "no way".) I had come up with Light/Wind, and a glass cannon speedster, though I was already done drawing the thing before I decided to make it a tengu, colored it red, and then attached the V-thing to its face with that bottom part to make it a nose. Originally it was lime green. XD

And by the way, Sovereignofsilence understands.

That's exactly how it works.

I gotta agree with Cacapulse on that one-- it's a horrible idea to start with the Type for a suggestion. That's what leads to all the second-rate Fire/Ice suggestions, and Poll Topics like the one Soble opened up on what was the best idea for a Wind/Steel Type (since back then, it would have been without a weakness).

in short, you probably should have thought of the POKEMON first, then thought of the TYPE. It tends to be a more conducive process when making quality suggestions.

Especially when you just choose the two least common types and make a Pokemon consisting of these two elements solely.

Due to the fact that we already have a tengu Pokemon and having more than one seems kind of odd (as opposed to Pidgey/Pidove, because there are many, many species of pigeons but only one species of tengu), maybe you could take inspiration on its name and make it a Wind/Flying kite Pokemon? Kite, as in the bird.

NO, I do not want to make a flying-type. There are far too many Flying-types (it's currently the highest on the type diversity list) and I want to increase diversity. >>;; I have been desperately trying to avoid making it Flying-type, even though that's a very logical thing to do. Also, bird Flying-type Pokemon are boring. VERY VERY VERY boring. If I am forced to make a flying-type I like to make it rather interesting and unique.

It's just that.... well, choosing the type first helps me think of more unique suggestions. Because if I don't make my suggestion unique (like this), what are the chances that the staff are actually going to say "hm, this is interesting" instead of "meh, there are about 5 of this concept, NEXT" or "how is this different than X".

I actually agree with you that coming up with a type first can help force you to come up with unique ideas.
The problem I've run into with that is that sometimes you get so attached to your idea for typing that you try to force things to fit it even when you can't actually come up with anything good
(Not saying that's what happened here, just pointing it out - sometimes you have to be willing to abandon something that doesn't work).
Often times I'll find that I try to make something fit a certain typing, but by the time I'm done it doesn't really seem to fit it anymore. Then I change the typing to something that makes more sense. Of course, I'm talking about when I've made pokemon up on my own prior to joining PF, so I didn't have to worry about my ideas being duplicates of somebody else's.

Yeah I think the glowing eyes make sense - I probably came off sounding more skeptical than I meant when I made the "blinky lights" comment.
I don't know if it's enough to warrant him being Light Type, though. Maybe just a pure type (or other dual type) that learns a couple Light moves.

Ok, I've finally given in and decided to make it a Wind/Flying-type kite (bird) Pokemon. When looking up kites, I realized that kites soared a lot so making a kite with the characteristics of a "toy" kite would be interesting. It won't learn Flash anymore, because it kind of clashes with the idea now, but I still think that it would be a cunning, vicious hunter that strikes quickly and vanishes into the clouds.

It has four wings, between them being a membrane of downy, soft feathers that catch the air easily and glide around. It can close this membrane at will to fly "normally" if wind conditions are not favorable for soaring. I still need help with the moveset though. >>
