For the Fire/Water, I (personally) would use some sort of catfish (maybe Pyrofish or something more creative). As for the Fire/Ice, maybe some sort of Leopard?

I'm thinking water/poison jellyfish pokemon and a grass/rock which would have moss growing on it and a fire/electric forest fire pokemon.

@elementalpenguin: well, I don't know what particular species Tentacool and Tentacruel are based off of, but Lileep is based off of barnacles. Plus, if Tentacool and Tentacruel aren't based off of it, maybe a box jellyfish Pokemon? They are super deadly and I've seen pictures of people stunged by box jellyfsh; not a pretty sight.

Fire/water would suit a deep-sea hydrothermal vent pokemon, a lot of deep sea creatures are red too. I did a couple a while back based on those giant tube worms, with the frilly red gills.
I'd love to see some unusual combos with dragon, not as some uber legend, just see what kind of interesting dragon folklores they can dig up from around the world, or ghost perhaps, Japanese ghosts alone could fill a dex with nightmare material.

Sorry, I've been watching Phoenix Wright games lately. Anyway, Lileep is based off of crinoids, extinct creatures that probably looked like barnacles. I can prove it with this article.

Barnacles catch food with their legs; their heads are stuck to the rock.

I always thought Lileep was a deep-water hydrozoan. Guess now I need to make a fanworm pokemon.

@Flarsable: huh, I've heard of crinoids (yes, I'm into prehistoric life), and in fact I read the article about Lileep about a year ago; must have forgotten about it.

I think Nintendo needs moar Ice types. And the Ghost types are usually really cute. ;w;

That reminds me of that one ice type that was a floating sad face. I forgot what it was but it had the worst defense stats ever. :l

Cryogonal! It has, yes, the sucky base defense of 30. It does kind of make sense though 'cause it's a snowflake.

I think I'd like to see a Water/Dark Pokemon based on THIS. I had some other ideas, too... Like perhaps a Rock/Dark (since Fossils are always half-Rock) Pokemon based on Dakosaurus andiniensis... Thinking about it, though, I suppose making it Dark/Rock would just be for a unique type combination, and it would probably be more of a Water/Rock... ANYWAYS, I've always wanted to see a non-Legendary Dragon/Psychic Pokemon.
