Hmm, an evolution to Foongus should have an equally punny name.
The top of the Pokémon should be based on an existing Pokéball, too. A quick ball, perhaps? The Pokémon could revolve around speed and light. Because, you know.
The type should be Grass/Light

A luxury ball cap might be better, since it's black you could pretend it's coated in solar cells.
Also I don't think it should learn Fire punch or Blaze kick, since it doesn't have any significant limbs.

Since its still based on a mushroom, why not let it learn a few of the Powders (i.e Sleep Powder, Stun Spore, PoisonPowder, etc.), and this still looks like it can learn Absorb/Mega Drain/Giga Drain. And what about SolarBeam? This should definitely learn it by level up (and if you didn't know, SolarBeam is Light-Type on PF).

I think that's the point of this Pokemon: A light-loving fungi that is not like its fellow, shade-thriving fungi cousins.

As for a punny name, I suggest Funlight! Or Funsun! (To be honest, these don't fit with Foonguss and Amoonguss' names, but I like them anyway.) Also, I support the Luxury Ball cap idea.

I also agree with the name... it should be Asungus, it fits in perfectly. But I'm sorry I don't understand how an evolution of Foonguss can be fire type that needs to be changed

Does it evolve from Foongus or Amoongus? I think you should make it clear, because if its name is Asungus, then it would serve better as an alt evo because of the couterpart factor. In that case, It would be odd because it evolves once by level. I think we should settle on a good evolution description.

Also, for a concept idea, what if you made counterparts for the different types of pokeballs? Possibly a net ball, luxury ball, quick ball, and heavy ball all with the secondary type poison. Then it could be similar to the Farfetch'dvolutions. Just an idea, however.

To elaborate, the topic title is Foonguss Evolution. It is an evolution of Foonguss. It's a counterpart because it's a split evolution.

So, I went to see if there was a sun mushroom, and it turns out that there is. It's also known as the Himematsutake.

Honestly, this went from 'meh' to promising in just a few days.

I think that wikipedia article just gave this suggestion the edge it needs, as we can now have a real life basis.

Here's something good, the Japanese name roughly means "Princess Mushroom", so maybe we can turn this into a sun-loving... princess... mushroom. And it could evolve by Dawn Stone and the 'sun' concept doesn't get lost. To round it all off-- the mushroom is edible, medicinal and apparently improves the immune system, which supports the fact that this evolution isn't poisonous like its brethren.
