A few people have asked for this, so we thought it was worth a try: a PF IRC channel!
IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat - it's a chatroom. It will be permanently on, and you will see myself (bonzairob), Aquletale (elementalpenguin) and Moppnttef on there most often, but other staff members will be there sometimes.
This is no longer a trial - the channel has been active for a month and a half, that's good enough for me!
However, we can and will kick people out of the chat (kicking/kicked for short), and ban them from returning, if they insult other users. Or if Decadecku is in the chat and feeling bored. (Note: if Deck kicks you, rejoin and ask another staff member for revenge.)
Anyone kicked can simply rejoin, and we will sometimes kick as a joke, so don't worry too much about it.
You can join with the link above: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=pokefactory. This is an in-browser connection; if you prefer, you can also download other programs to connect, such as Colloquy for Mac and mIRC for Windows.
If you've never used IRC before, here are some tips:

If you've never used IRC before, here are some tips:
- Various commands are used by sending them as messages. example: /msg user Hi there! sends user the message "Hi there!" privately, so no-one else can see it. This means that you can't start messages with the / character.
- There are two special bots called ChanServ and NickServ. They are official bots that perform various functions.
- You can change your username with /nick newname
- When you've decided on a nickname, you can register it, making it permanent: /msg NickServ register password123 email@address.com registers the nick you're currently using, with the password "password123", to the email address shown. That way you can get your password reset and sent to your email address if you lose it.
- To log in to your username next time: /identify password123
- If you're having trouble using /identify fast enough, tick the "Auth to services" checkbox on the webchat page and enter your details there.
- When you're all registered, do /msg nickserv SET ENFORCE ON - this stops anyone else using your account.
- No swearing. First offences will get you a kick, repeat offences will get you a ban. The level of cursing is up to staff members in the chat, but needless to say the bad words are always out.
- No insults. Take arguments into private /msg or stop arguing altogether, but you'll get kicked if you insult another user maliciously.
- Don't be a jerk. If a user isn't happy with your behaviour, they can tell a staff member and you'll be kicked.
- Don't spam (lots of messages in a short space of time with no-one replying). This includes triggering bots (like vurly, who goes by different names, and porybot) to do it for/with you.
- Read this post and take it in.
Current Bans:
- None.
- Patricol, for inadvertently letting her brother use her account to aggravate people on the channel.
