If anyones heard, North Carolina (where I live) was hit with many tornados (one of which was at my back door, literally) on April 16th. Its the largest tornado outbreak in 20 years!!! I posted this to see if any PF members were impacted by the tornados this month.

And, If you have any other stories to tell about surviving a Natural Disaster (i.e. Power Outage, Tornado, Earthquake, Flood, etc), post them here

No, where I live the only natural disaster we'd ever get is a blizzard. And not even then is it at all likely because the clouds dump themselves over the mountains, and also they heat up and dry when they're headed back down.

Yikes, I'm very glad that I live nowhere near the Tornado Alley (California resident here!). I'd hate to see tornadoes frequently! D :

Well, yeah, but te thing is that NC isn't close to Tornado Alley. Seeing Tornados here are rare. extremely rare

we've had like, one tornado here in the last 10 years and that one was like woop-dee-doo. It did happen just after an earthquake hit us which was again just like a woop-dee-doo earthquake anyways. We don't get much other than blizzards in southern ontario.

Yes, I survived them. (in case known of you recall/never knew, I live in North Carolina) In fact, I was lucky enough to be in a town that lacked any severe tornados, and managed to avoid seeing a fully-formed one at all.

No natural disasters ever happen where I live or have lived. The closest I ever got to something that bad was a massive storm and my siblings and grandmother and three dogs (two being owned by my cousins) had to flee into the closet when the wind picked up real bad. And then one time there was a really weak earthquake that lasted for like three seconds.

@empire- Same here. Closest we've ever gotten over here to a natural disaster was a big ol' snowstorm that made us lose power for about 12 hours.

Well... me and my twin went through a horrible flood last year in may. I'm sure some of you have heard a historic May Flood that happened in Tennessee. Well... We were in the middle of it all. the only thing that saved me and my twin was the fact that my dad had our house built on the slope of a hill. High enough in which the water didn't even touch our house. We lost power for 2-3 days, And the (I'm not sure how heavy it is so I'll guess it's weight.) 3 TON Concrete bridge in front of our house was practically washed away. And our dad didn't even get home before all of this happened. It was super scary, and kinda cool, but mostly scary.

But other than that...I think there was a few minor floods and a tiny tornado. (I didn't even get to see it, which was a bummer)

Wow, what a story... seems really scary. Where I used to live, we had a flood that nearly washed the city off the map! (But, I wasn't alive then, that was in 1985 :P)

Well, we were lucky, our house didn't even got touched by the creek that was in front of our house (during the flood it was more like a raging river).
After the flood I realized what it was like to feel 100% pure sympathy for the ones around me my friends, my family, and the nature that encircles me.

Wow, you are lucky. I'm glad you're ok, I imagine that seeing that "raging river" was pretty scary.

Closest thing I've ever had to a natural disaster was a very mild earthquake in 2007 or so; I woke up, noticed my room was shaking, thought "oh" and went back to bed.
Sum total of the damage: Some chimneys fell off some houses.

Britain: Even our natural disasters are polite and reserved.

British people wouldn't say Au revoir even if it meant unlocking the secrets of perpetual motion. They hate french people so much. I know this because I am not British and therefore the most qualified to comment on them.

Well, if that's so, why do posh English gentlemen use words such as "drôle", "enchanté", "tête-a-tête", and "rendezvous"? They're all French words that are used in English.
