yes you do if you want the Wi-fi to work. Unless you have a Ds I Xl or the 3Ds

The old fat DS doesn't have Wi-Fi. Of course it doesn't. It's not like I've played a thousand matches against Kalir or Sneaky or anything with my old DS, over Wi-Fi. Hell, it's not like I got Jirachi via the Jirachi event over Wi-Fi. It's not even like there were Wi-fi compatible games before the DSi, because none of the DSes before that could have Wi-Fi.

The point is that with the old DS you need a wi-fi connection plug which is sold seprartely. With the new DS I/XL and 3DS the Wi-fi is wireless. Now can we start posting friend codes?

Errr... my old Nintendo DS works wonders still. I think you mean about the security level has to be set to WEP. Now lemme check my friend code but I gotta say before hand, that issue is causing me so much trouble right now.

Well I did forgot to say that you need to have a good connection that's open or make your own Wep-key-whatever-you-call-it-connection-thing w/ or w/o a security that you would know by heart.

yeah i can only use my DS-heavy at my mom's house and McDonalds because everything else is WPA, and rightfully so because WEP is a huge pile of crap

I'll give friendcodes when I'm home for the summer

This is the first time I've updated my Yuku signature in at least 4 years. In fact, last time I updated it it wasn't even on Yuku. That is all

I hope you know the Wi in Wi-Fi stands for Wireless. But ever since I put a password on my wireless device I can't seem to connect with my DS Lite. Just it, though, everything else is fine. It might be a problem with the Lite, and I hope it doesn't get fixed because then I'd be really mad for not doing it earlier and getting Jirachi, Celebi and Shiny Entei.

Lite can handle WPA and WEP.
It's the actual Pokemon game that can't.
Black and White had the feature of being able to be used in both.

Well, all I know is that my router is set to WPA and I need to set it back to WEP everytime I want to use the Wi-Fi connection, which is really bothersome.

Actually, Wi-Fi doesn't stand for anything. It's just a trademark - a company name.

But everyone- even the company- has called it short for Wireless Fidelity at least once. It wasn't supposed to be, but it seems to have adapted to it.

See exactly my point. When I had the DS lite I needed some plug that is sold separately to connect. But when I got the DS i (and figured out my Wi-fi code which is a really long story) I got access to Wi-Fi with no MAJOR problems.

I never understood how one can have problems with Wi-Fi.
Is it that the Wi-Fi feature on the DS sucks?
