I kinda agree with you, Flarsable. It just looked...well...lazy to just slap the Adaptability ability to so many Pokemon. I always thought that was a rare ability (since not every animal is able to adapt to the changing environment)

Just to clarify, the ones in the archive that aren't assigned abilities yet appear that they have Adaptability as their abilities because because it's the first one alphabetically. It's a placeholder.

Ramfrio - Rock Head/Anger Point (DW: Snow Cloak)

Here's some interesting PF history: Tumbella was originally sprited (from scratch) by Hisutata, I assume before seeing Culthuhu's concept art. At that point, it really did look like a tiny tumbleweed prevo of Tangela. Then, Histutata left, and I was given Tumbella as one of my tests for becoming a sprite artist. As I've said before, I have no idea why I was hired. Because the result was bigger, we changed thing around and now it's more like a counterpart to Tangela than a relative.
