I was looking through the new Pokemon to be released for Black/White and saw some eerie similarities between the a few of the ones on Serebii and the ones here on Pokemon Factory

Vs.

Doesn't it seem a little weird to you?
Do you think they could be poking around here for Ideas?

Well, the similarities between the first pair there are merely the concept and coloration. Snakes, or any serpentine creature resemble vines, especially the Vine Snake. The head of the Snivy evo clearly resembles that of a vine snake, while Ourobotine resembles a larger snake, such as a Python. Ourobotine evolves from a fruit, while the other thing (cannot remember the name) evolves from a lizard. I'd say the two are akin to Arbok and Seviper.
The latter of the pairs, to me, have no similarities other than both being furry dogs.

I'm pretty sure Game Freak comes up with the ideas, not Nintendo.

Anyway, I honestly don't see any similarities other than the fact that Serperior and Pf's grass-snake (Forgot the name, sorry!) are snakes and that Stoutland and Pf's pooch (Forgot his name, too...) are dogs. I just... can't see any other similarities.

We (And the fandom in general, maybe) sometimes like to delude our(them)selves into thinking Game Freak's roaming pokemon forums for new pokémon ideas. LIKE THAT WOULD EVER HAPPEN. HA. HA. HA. HA. *shifty eyes*

In all seriousness, the similarities are pretty superficial; the ideas are still miles apart from each other. I remember making a post when Gen V sprites were just trickling out, I saw Swadloon (Kurumayu) and immediately saw the resemblance between it and Youthistle. That was one WTF worthy situation.

Also, I personally haven't ever found any of these "stealings" very plausible; the one that, in my opinion, was always the most eye-raising would be Chwin/Cherubi, which no one else seems to notice, and still isn't much more than a similar design idea.

EDIT: Actually, it's Chwins, in the plural. I forgot that that was the whole shtick for that 'mon in the first place.

This is one of those questions that make me view everyone as idiots. Of course they're not stealing ideas from us. It's just a coincidence.

Official Pokemon are made over time and are presented all at once, so Serperior and Stoutland could easily have come BEFORE Ourobotine and Whatshisface.

Just stay oblivious and enjoy the games anyway, gosh.
