Just then, Damien burst through a thicket of trees, his black jacket flapping wildly as Raven and Jack trailed him just as fast. "Run! Run Away!" he cried, accidentally stepping on one of the lagging Paras, causing it to zoink out with little spirals in its eyes. Behind him there pursued... nothing. At least, not to the casual onlooker. But to Damien, it appeared that a horde of demonic Plumpkin were on his trail. Through the branches above, though, flew a familiar shadow. It hadn't been content to just rob him and his friend in the woods before; no, its insatiable avarice would have to be confronted this time. Damien reached a clearing, the trees around him taking on frightful visages and clawing at him with their withered talons. Plumpkins closed in on every side, and he began to hear whispers. Runaway child... Always in the shadows... A lesser son of greater parents... Then there came the straw which broke the Camerupt's back. A meaningless effort. Damien snapped. His fearful look vanished, but it wasn't replaced by care-free smiles and laughing eyes. No, instead, he stared down each and every Plumpkin before squaring his shoulders. "Be silent," he said. The whispers stopped and the advancing army of mirages halted. A shadow seemed to pass over Damien, and to anyone who cared to listen close enough, it almost sounded like he was speaking with two voices at once. "Your chapter in this story is over." Like the breaking of a window, the illusion was shattered, and a stunned Murraven was stuck out in the open. Damien reached for his Pokéballs, and called out Exo. "Poison Sting," he said. Exo obeyed, spraying a wide arc of purple glowing needles which struck the Murraven. It cawed in pain, and it looked like a wing had been injured, but Damien seemed to be on a roll. "Raven, use Peck," he commanded. Raven looked uneasy, but complied. The Murraven was sent sprawling, and Damien himself advanced this time. The pitiful creature, who had probably just been having a bit of mean-spirited but harmless fun, didn't even get a chance to get up before Damien had his hand around its neck, lifting it into the air. It winced, and tried feebly to escape. Damien's eyes remained shallow and vacant.

Damien crumpled under the strike from Cray's chop, and released the ravenesque Pokemon from his iron grip. He seemed to pass out for a second, before staring up at the canopy in a daze. It had all seemed a blur to him; one moment, he was being chased by an army of nasty Plumpkin, and then then next it was just... darkness. What had caused him to fall so far into shadow? It could only have been some powerful force of malice, to be sure, but that wasn't his biggest concern at the moment. What troubled him the most was that it felt like a Machamp had been using his head for Brick Break practice. "Oh, my head," he said finally, sitting up and brushing the leaves and various debris from his clothes. He noticed Cray giing him a funny look. "I hope that my head ache is do to some awesome party we had in these woods last night, and wasn't your fault in any way," Damien said, standing up. Noticing the knocked out Murraven not too far away, Damien jumped. "Omigod! When did that thing pop up?"

Damien wandered into a nearby clearing and looked around. "Oh where oh where have the Plumpkin gone~? Oh where oh where could they be~?" he sand while rustling through the bushes and tall grass searching for his quarry. However, he wasn't having much luck, and after a few minutes he gave it a rest in order to see what Cray was up to. "Aren't you still looking for some Pokemon as well?" he asked.
