Heart:

- Igglybuff, Jigglypuff, Wigglytuff

Benthic:

How does Heart and Benthic interact with other types? What is Super-effective against it? How are the Heart and Benthic types defined? (For example, maybe not every cute Normal-type Pokémon is Heart-type; maybe only particularly affectionate or emotional ones are) I shall go by this theoretical definition in my suggestion.

Benthic-type: Pokémon that can withstand the dark and mysterious depths of the open ocean.
Heart-type: Pokémon that rely on, are distinguished by, are correlated with, or manipulate emotions such as happiness, or psychological Pokémon that employ or predominantly associate with the emotional aspect of the mind or feelings in general, rather than cognitive (intelligence of various Psychic-types) or spatial (telekinesis) aspects.

Perhaps Snubbull and even Granbull can be Heart-type. Snubbull: "Although it looks frightening, it is actually kind and affectionate." Mesprit and Azelf may correlate with Heart-type as well.

Benthic:
Kingdra, Kyogre, Lumineon, Lanturn, Anorith, Mantyke, Carvanha, Sharpedo

Sableye, Lvl. 9 (approx.) (male)

Tiquail, Lvl. 7 (female)

Normgon, Lvl. 6 (female)

Sunny (Sunkern) Lvl. 7 (female)

Grubva, Lvl. 7 (male)

Yes, I was thinking the same thing. Not only "cute" pokemon, but also affectionate ones too. (BTW, I'd like to see if you'd see each of your choices as a pure type or mixed with the new type.) Also, ShinE, on bulbapedia. many of the dexes are fan translated. Maybe you should take a peak?

Could you define Benthic? As I imagine it, the Bidoof and Azurill lines do not seem Benthic-type.

Coolsteph, I'm trying.

I think bibarel should be, because of the fact that he's a beaver, and beavers live in dark or murky lakes (rather than dark oceans).

The azuril line... I was trying to kill two birds with one stone, eliminating pokemon from both normal and water type groups.

I also forgot to add 2 more for heart:

Miltak (for her loving personality)

Kangaskhan (for her motherly nature)

Benthic does not include beavers. No way. It is a specific zone, at the very bottom of the lake. Beavers are not included.

I think some Fossil Pokemon would fit Benthic...

Lileep/Cradily = Benthic/Grass (I mean, they ARE called "Sea Lilies")
Omanyte/Omastar = Benthic (like ShinE said)
Kabuto/Kabutops = Benthic (like ShinE said, again)

Also there's this one:

Relicanth = Benthic/Rock

As for Heart-Type... Is it possible that being Heart-Type doesn't necessarily mean you're fixated on positive emotions? Like, can a really warped Pokemon be Heart-Type because it is so closely related to negative emotions? No, I suppose that would make it Dark-Type... but wait! That would mean Heart-Type would be weak to Dark, right?

HEART [Weaknesses and Resistances]
Fire = x1
Water = x1
Thunder = x1
Grass = x1
Flying = x1
Ground = x1
Rock = x1
Wind = x1
Ice = x1
Ghost = x0 (Cause if you're putting off good vibes, the spooky stuff can't getcha!)
Steel = x1
Magic = x1/2 (Because we all know how it goes in the fairy tales: true love beats magic any day!)
Dark = x2 (See above)
Psychic = x2 (Messes with their emo-flow y'know?)
Dragon = x1/2 (Because the heart of a Hero can trump any ol' lizard, can't it?)
Poison = x1
Light = x 1/2 (Light can't hurt what's already good and pure too badly)
Bug = x1

I like your ideas sov, but I'm sticking to lileep/cradily keeping rock/grass, because of it being a fossil.

I think it should also be 2x weak to fighting.

So, if there are Heart-types and Benthic-types, how do they receive STAB? Are some Psychic-type and Normal-type moves Heart-type now, or do we assume most of them are like Phanpy and learn no STAB moves naturally?

Yes, some normal and psychic moves will turn into heart type moves. As for the benthics, I don't know which moves should be swtiched over.

Which is why I was thinking of this: Benthic and Water will share moves. They will both get STAB for water type moves.

....? Well, that's a revolutionary feature. Any other types that have the same shared-STAB relationship? Ghost-types and Dark-types, Ground-types and Rock-types...so, since I do not think you made this clear if you explained it earlier, what is the difference between Water-types and Benthic-types?

Benthic Types, as I see it, are pokemon that live in aquatic areas, but aren't quite water type enough to be it (Bibarel, Maggyo, Lugia, etc.)

Then that might not be the best term. Benthic refers to a specific set of properties---the bottom of a body of water.
