As was announced on Bulbapedia, the ???-type no longer exists in Pokémon Black and White. Posing more problems than benefits, the mysterious type was removed from the coding. The only Nintendo move that used the type, Curse, is now classified as a Ghost-type move and Arceus' ???-type form was removed.

Since the Pokémon Factory intends to stick as close to the official gameplay rules as possible, we decided to retype our seven ???-type moves and turn Hidden Power back to a Normal-type move. The seven moves that were retyped are:
- NegativeWave (Dark-type)
- Rainbow (Light-type)
- Diffusion (Normal-type)
- Effect Push (Normal-type)
- ElementForce (Normal-type)
- SplitStrike (Normal-type)
- Thermal (Wind-type)

This effectively means that the ???-type no longer exists. Let's take a moment of silence for the type that was with us during three generations.

So, Hidden Power can still be normal type?

Regarding Hidden Power, at PF we changed it to ???-type, since it makes little sense for it to be a Normal-type move, considering it can deal damage of all types but Normal. However, Nintendo probably considers Normal to be the 'typeless' type, so Hidden Power is now Normal-type at PF too. It still cannot deal Normal-type damage, though.
In short: PF uses Hidden Power exactly the same as Nintendo does.

Uhm... okay. What is it that you don't get? Do you get how Hidden Power works in the games, 'cause we haven't changed anything :P If not, please rephrase the question.

Well now that I think about it, there were no Pokemon with the type and only one move using that type, so I still see no use for it, but still somehow I am sad.

This is kind of depressing, but I knew it was bound to happen. Although I disagree with it, all I can really do is hope like the dickens that Nintendo brings it back. I doubt they will, though... I guess this is it. Could we possibly have a commemorative type gem made for it?

I think the reason it was removed was simply that the ??? type wasn't used enough. It was used with one move, and that was it. Nintendo could have done a lot with a type that can basically be ANYTHING. Just like we did at PF; we made moves that were so strange and wild that there simply is no other type that would make sense. It truly is sad that they did away with a type with so much potential.
Also: Curse as a Ghost type? Stupid.

Curse actually made more sense to me as a Ghost type then anything, but PF's moves definitely had a case, and you're right, Drufle, it had some deep potential.

Also, @ShinE and Bonzai: I think Flars meant he doesn't accept the type change. Rejection out of dislike. Don't worry too much about it. I don't think he meant to come off as rude (although, Flarsable, it did seem rude).

Well I'm stupid. I saw the title of this and thought it meant that when we were filling out suggestions, we couldn't have unknown things labeled with question marks because the workers would get angry or something.

Then I realized that I read this before.

But what about Arceus? It was the creator of everything! it couldn't have just one type. It has to be the ??? type! Arceus can't be Arceus any other way! Please I beg of you , don't change Arceus's type.

That's what its ability Multitype is for, it literally possesses the qualities of all of the types; but it can only have one at any particular moment.
How inconvenient for Arceus, it seems even the creator of the universe can't multitask.

@Flarsable: Ah, lol, now I get your "no" post XD Yeah, ninja-ing can be much fun and confusing XD Thanks for clearing that up ^^

@The Swayer Generation: Arceus has never been ???-type. There just existed a ???-type sprite in the game's coding to prevent it from crashing when someone hacks a ???-type Arceus into existence. Arceus has always been a pure Normal-type and, like Cacapulse said, possesses the qualities of all other types thanks to its plates.
So, don't worry, we don't change anything about Arceus. Nintendo only removed an unused sprite.
