"Goodness," the voice said. It was an older woman's voice, reassuring, but posh. "You look awful. Are you quite all right, young man?" The professor had just gotten back from a routine examination of the Bug-types in the forest nearby. Her name was Professor Cherry. She was pretty, with long black hair and glasses that daintily sat on her nose. She wore a labcoat and was carrying a large umbrella. "I'll be right back with a towel," she assured him. "No need to worry about that." She soon left the room, coming back with a towel, which she gave to him. "What is your name? I am Professor Cherry." Professor Cherry put her notepad down on the desk, and smiled at him.

"Thank you. I am Xavier of Hoenn." Xavier said, shivering still, despite the warmth of the towel wrapped around him. "I have come to recieve a Pokemon for....family matters." He continued, and it was true enough.

"Very well," she told him. "What Pokemon do you want? We even have the Hoenn starters, Treecko, Torchic and Mudkip, if it will make you feel any better, Xavier." Prof. Cherry smiled at him. "But we have other choices. The starters from Kanto, Johto, Sinnoh, and Bombur are available too."

Xavier smiled. "Thank you for offering the Hoenn starters, but they've always seemed a little to...mundane for my likings. Instead, I would like a Holliguana. It looks like Treecko enough to remind me of Hoenn, but different enough that I know I'm on my own adventure." He said. Xavier then looked around. He found a small Pokeball with a leaf and a B stamped on it, and assumed it was a Holliguana. He picked it up. "Is this it?"

The professor took the Poke Ball and put it back. "No, that's not Holliguana's Poke Ball. That would be Youthistle's Poke Ball." She reached into another tube and pulled out Holliguana's Poke Ball. "This is Holliguana's. Go ahead, open it." She handed it to him and smiled at him.

"Oh." Xavier said, trying to hide his embarresment. He took the pokeball Professor Cherry had handed to him, and pressed the center button. It grew in size, and Xavier tossed the sphere gracefully into the air. It hit the tiled floor with a small thump and opened up, spilling blinding white light. The light eventually gathered into the shape of a small, lizard-like creature, and started fading. Once the light was gone, in its place stood a green creature, with small amounts of grass on it. "Holl!Gua!" It trilled cheerfully. "Hey little-" Xavier said, abruptly cutting himself off. "Professor Cherry, can you tell me more about it?" Xavier asked, curious.

"Absolutely," she said. "It's a male with the moves Scratch and Growl, it has the ability Overgrow, and it's Level 5." She smiled at the Holliguana, then heard a noise in the back of the lab. She rushed back and noticed a man in a black uniform trying to raid the Pokemon storage. "How dare you!" she shouted. The man glared. "This Pokemon is of use to me. I need it for the Master," he exclaimed. "Well, you're not going to be taking that! That Pokemon is for new trainers!" Prof. Cherry stated. "It doesn't matter," the man retorted. "Team Comet is more important than some bratty kids." The professor glared, pulling out a Poke Ball. "Go, Leafeon!" she exclaimed. The Poke Ball shone and a green fox-like Pokemon appeared. The man grinned wickedly. "Go, Comolten!" The grunt's Poke Ball opened, to reveal a floating, cyclopean red orb covered in flames.

Suddenly, a trainer with a pokemon-themed scabbard on his back came from behind and punched the black suited man. "That is for shoving me over to the ground." He exclaimed, "I can't believe yo-" He then noticed a lady professor, a young trainer, a holliguana, a comolten, and a leafeon staring at him confusingly.

Xavier nodded, and then heard the same noise. He also ran with Professor Cherry, and saw the grunt. "Professor, let me battle him. It'll be good practice, and we'll make short work of him." Xavier said smugly. The Holliguana chirped, and stood in front of the Comolten. "Fyllo, use Tackle!" He called, thinking up a name quickly. Right after Xavier called the attack, the black-suited man fell, and another boy was behind him. Fyllo was still charging, but was distracted by the boy, and hit him instead. "Sorry about the Holliguana...Who are you?" Xavier asked, Fyllo coming back to his side.

Professor Cherry stared at him strangely, and so did her Leafeon. The black suited man got up. "Enough of this! Comolten, return!" he exclaimed. He called back the Comolten, then pulled out another Poke Ball. "Lemuria, go!" The small blue lemur Pokemon appeared on the ground. "Teleport!" As the Lemuria started to teleport with the grunt, the grunt grinned. "You haven't seen the last of Team Comet!" He then vanished with the Lemuria and the stolen Comolten. Professor Cherry looked at the man with the scabbard. "Thank you for helping get rid of that horrible man..." she admitted. She called back the Leafeon and smiled sheepishly at Xavier. "I apologize. It's not nearly this hectic here all the time," she told him.

He scratched his head. "Truth be told, I just stumbled in here. I didn't realize this was the lab." He then turned to Xavier. "My name is Lance. I have seen some big battles back when I was your age." He turned to Professor Cherry, "I see great potential. Mind if I travel with him?"

"I don't see why not... do you have a Pokemon?" she asked Lance. "Because if you don't, I have a lot of them for you to choose from. The starters from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Bombur are available." She looked at the scabbard on his back. It was quite ornate and looked interesting to her. However, she looked back at Xavier. "I think you and Xavier here would make an excellent team."

"No need," Lance declined, "I brought one with me." He pulled something out of his scabbard and raised it up high. "POSSORD!!" It bellowed. "This is my possessord, my true companion. And I take him everywhere with me." He lowered the possessord. "Mind saying hello to everyone possessord?" he asked. Lance then let it go, and it floated into the air, coming up to everyone to happily say hello.

Lance thought for a moment. "Now is not the time. We haven't even gone to the first town. Be patient." Lance replied. "Possessord, come back now." Possessord complied and slipped himself back into his scabbard. "Now all we need are dexes." he concluded.

The professor nodded and opened a drawer. Inside was many complex-looking red contraptions. She handed two over to the two trainers. "These are your Pokedexes. They have information on every Pokemon ever discovered! And some that have never been seen." She smiled. "Good luck, and may your journey go smoothly."

"Thank you Professor Cherry!" Xavier said eagerly. He and Lance then walked out of the sliding doors, and onto Route 1. There were several pokemon running, flying, and buzzing around, and Xavier sent out Fyllo. "Holl-gua!" It chirped, running around eagerly. Suddenly, a small Rattata jumped out in front of Fyllo. It squeaked loudly, attempting to Growl. The affect was the same, however, and Fyllo shuddered. "Fyllo! Use Tackle!" Xavier called. Fyllo did as told, charging at the small rodent. The blow connected, and Rattata squeaked. It scampered away, fearful. "Good job, Fyllo!" Xavier said, going over to his Grass-type Pokemon.
