There's no reaosn why not. Vespiquen & Beedril are both based on bees, no? Same goes with Butterfree and Beautifly, & Dustox and Venomoth.

I think it would be interesting to make a Pokemon Tree of Life, showing which species are most closely related. Compared with the size of the real tree of life it would be easy!
