While I await my other suggestion to get approved, I might as well give one of my other ideas:
They fly though the air gathering ice crystals in their fur. Solar radiation ionizes the ice, which they eat for food. This also causes the ice to break off leaving behind a glowing trail. They use these trails to communicate with one another. This glow is confused with shooting stars.
Appearance: Their heads have a similar build to that of the eevee line and are dark blue. Their ears are yellow and point back. This coupled along with the tuft of hair on their foreheads and two yellow stripes going down their cheeks, gives their head the appearance of a star. They have two slits for nostrils and on either side of the nose are two whiskers curve and connect to form a crescent moon shape. Their main bodies are dark blue and are thinner at the front than at the back, giving a quasi tear drop shape (like that of a real rabbit). Their front legs are the same dark blue, except from the knee down it is the same yellow found on the face. At the knee the colors meet in a way similar to that of Blaziken's legs. They have two toes on each leg. Their hind legs are slightly larger and do not have the yellow on them. Their tails are small, dark blue, and appear to be frozen. Trailing behind their bodies are the ice crystals that fell off.
Shiny Coloration: All Dark blue on their bodies is replaced with jade green. This is to represent the fact that a moon rabbit is also know as a jade rabbit.
