How long, on average, should movelists be? I ask because some pokemon's are only about 9-10 moves long, while others have up to 17 or so. (To compare, the average D/P pokemon has 12-14 moves, not counting duplicated base moves.) For future reference, how long should they be?

Wind Absorb
Tackle
Bubble
Gust

Normal/Flying Lvl. 3
Keen Eye

However long is right for the pokemon, I assume. Base it off of something else's movelist.

Yeah, I always base the length of my suggestions' move lists on an official pokémon that is in terms of concept closest to my suggestion ^-^

That's what I do too, but that's only because I was being too lazy to try and make it from scratch.

Aw, shucks. *blushes* I'm not really worrying myself, I just thought it might be a bit easier for others if there was some kind of official guideline. But when I see some newb making a movelist with only 3 moves, which evolves into a pokemon that learns every move with a power over 120... *shudder* A lot of people just don't seem to get the balance of Offensive/Defensive, too. I was just hoping to get an official ruling on that, and I guess the answer is "keep doing what you've been doing". XD

That and a lot of comparison to official pokémon ;P I don't know, we could add it to our FAQ, but there really isn't a good A to this Q... :P

You are not making sense. The A in FAQ stands for Asked, not Answered.

Generally, I just compare on the official pokemon, as said. Also since I've been playing since day 1 (approximately), I tend to have a good feeling of things and I go with that.

Another thing of note regarding movelists that just pisses me off: if a pokemon learns a move way out of it's own types, there has to be a reason. If no sensible explanation of a move cannot be accounted for, I will rather leave said move to egg moves/TMs/whatever, if it's that necessary to be even in there. See also: Dragon types learning abso-freaking-lutely everything under the sun...
