A few days ago...
A Youngster with a fake beard walked onstage, which an audience of Youngsters were in front of. "Fellow Youngsters!" said the Elder Youngster "We have gathered here today for our monthly meeting of our Youngsters' Epic Society (or YES for short)" "Hail Elder Youngster!" said all the Youngsters "Now it is time for the annual Shorts Check!" said Elder Youngster. He then came off the stage and walked to each of the Youngsters. "Let's see...GymYoungster Darius,yes...Shorts Boy, duh...RouteYoungster Claus..." Then Elder Youngster saw Claus and realized that Claus wasn't wearing shorts, but sweat pants!!! "YOUNGSTER CLAUS!!! DO YOU HAVE ANY EXPLANATION ABOUT WHAT YOU'RE WEARING?!" All the YES members looked at Claus in shock. "WELL?!?! DO YOU?!?!?" Claus said nervously "...I just don't like shorts" "DON'T LIKE SHORTS?!? HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE SHORTS! THEY'RE COMFY AND EASY TO WEAR!" "I just like sweat pants more" "Well then you and your sweatpants can just get out of here!"

Present day
Claus got off the boat he was on and looked around. "Hmm... this looks like the place" he said. He then started walking towards the lab.

"Ha! You're too funny, Stephen." Claus noticed a young woman walking out of the lab, he assumed she was talking to the professor. "Okay, Stephen, see you soon!" The young woman waved at the professor and walked onto the steps outside the lab. She took notice of Claus and walked up to him, "Hello there, my name is Lucille. Tell me, are you heading to the lab to see the Professor?" She asked kindly.

"Oh, no reason." She said, "Here, let me walk you inside and introduce you to the Professor. Follow me!" Lucille walked the young boy up the steps and into the lab, "Excuse me, Professor! I have a new trainer for you!" She exclaimed, "Hm? Oh! Welcome to my lab! My name is Stephen, but many just call me 'Professor'." He said, "May I ask for your name?"

"Ah, nice to meet you Claus. And of course! Please follow me." The Professor walked to a bin full of pokeballs and said to Claus, "I have an assortment of pokeballs here for you, choose one, then hand it to me so I can begin the scanning process. Choose wisely, Claus!"

Claus closed his eyes and shuffled his hand arround around in the bin, finally grabbing hold of a Pokeball."Here you go" said Claus

"Thank you very much!" The professor said, "Now... let's place it into the scanner." He then walked over to a machine. It was large, with a huge computer screen and a lot of complicated buttons and switches. The Professor placed the Pokeball into a small slot and pressed a series of buttons. He then pulled down a switch which began the scanning process. The Professor then began to press yet another series of buttons, which caused many lights to appear in the slot the ball was placed into. Suddenly, a robotic arm emerged from the machine and shot a red light at the Pokeball. It slowly went back inside the machine. An image on the screen appeared and revealed the Pokemon's identity and data.

Name: Gastly
Gender: Male
Dex Number: 92
Type: Ghost/Poison
Ability: Levitate
Species: Gas Pokemon
Ht: 4'03''
Wt: 0.2 lbs
Moves: Hypnosis, Lick, Spite

"Ah, it's a Gastly." The professor said, "Here... let me remove the Pokeball from the machine and we'll let him out." The Professor pressed a button which made the slot which contained the Pokeball open. He grabbed it and handed it to Claus. "Now, listen here, you take care of this Pokemon, okay? I'm sure I can trust you with that. Now, here..." The professor gave Claus the Pokeball continued, "Why don't let him out so he can meet you?"

"OK, go Gastly" said Claus. "Gaaaaas" Gastly floated around Claus in circles. All of a sudden, he lunged out, Licking Claus. "Uggh" said Claus, now covered in ghost slobber "i guess I'll name you Slurp"

"Gast!" Gastly said in agreement

"Now that you've had the time to meet I want you to have one of these..." The Professor revealed to Claus a small box. He unlocked the box, and in it were four Pokedexes, all in different colors. "These are called 'Pokedexes'. Whenever you see a Pokemon for the first time and want information about said Pokemon, just flip it open and, voila! Its data will be revealed to you. It's like an encyclopedia for Pokemon!" The Professor exclaimed, "Now, Claus, these devices are very expensive, so choose only one. Don't be shy, go right ahead."

"OK, I choose this one" said Claus, and he grabbed a blue Pokedex "..Bye" So Claus and Slurp left the lab to start their adventure. However, he was instantly inturuppted by an unpleasent voice "HEY SHORTLESS!" Up came the generic sight of a youngster. Claus groaned "Joey, what are you doing here"

"I came here to show more people how AWESOME my Rattata is, when look who I found but the RULE-BREAKING FREAK!" taunted Joey "Just shut up Joey" said Claus "And stop using capital letters"

"YOU SHADDUP!" said Joey " Now I challenge you to a battle! If two trainer's eyes meet, they must must battle! I LIKE SHORTS!" Claus was about to refuse, but he remembered Rattata's diverse skills: Tackle and the occaisional Tail Whip "OK" said Claus "Let's go"
