Carlos casually strolled up to the laboratory door. Maybe if he went home he could convince his mom not to make him go on an adventure. There were so many better things he could have done with his life! Suddenly the door opened. "Too late" he thought.

Pokémon Factory Worker

There was a man standing in front of a large machine, his back facing Carlos. At the sound of the door opening, the man turned around and greeted him. "Hello. My name is Aaron. I am Professor Idaho's assistant and I am watching his lab while he is away. I am assuming you are here for a pokemon. Do you know what you would like or do you want me to list your choices?"

Pokémon Factory Worker

"A good choice and thank you. I try to keep the lab well-kept for the professor," Aaron stated. He went over to a machine where nine pokeballs could be inside inside a plastic bubble. He typed in a code on a keypad and the bubble opened.

Aaron pointed to one of them and said, "Here's Cherippo. Send it out so that it can meet you, then return and place the pokeball on this machine." Aaron pointed to the machine he was in front of when Carlos walked in. "It will give you detailed information on the pokemon."

"Alright then c'mon out cherippo!" Carlos threw out the pokeball and a little blue hippo appeared. "Walalalalala," it bellowed. "Alright! Your a cute little guy eh? C'mon back and I'll give you a scan." Carlos got cherippo back in his ball and clicked it into the machine.

The screen on the wall lit up revealing the information for Cherippo:

Charges the foe with a full-body tackle.

Growl [Nrm]

Growls cutely to lower the foe's ATTACK.

"Now before you get your pokedex there is one more thing you need to do. Please follow me," Aaron said. He led Carlos to a large indoor field. White flowers were lined on the green grass marking a battlefield.

Aaron walked to the far side of the arena and shouted, "Your last task is your first gym battle!"

Pokémon Factory Worker

Aaron took out a pokeball from his lab coat and tossed the ball onto the field. Out came a Nevermore, who ruffled its dark blue feathers when it materialized onto the battlefield. "Let's start off strong Nevermore. Use Peck!"

Nevermore complied by lifting off the ground and flying toward Cherippo, his beak aglow.

Nevermore hit cherippo right on top of the head and he fell on his back. "C'mon Cherippo, give him a good tackle!" Cherippo bellowed as he lunged at nevermore

Pokémon Factory Worker

The close proximity of the two gave Nevermore little time to dodge. He was smacked hard by the heavy water-type, who sent Nevermore tumbling in the opposite direction. He slowly got up waiting for Aaron's next command. "Good job hanging in there Nevermore. Use Growl to soften Cherippo's next blow!"

Nevermore obeyed, letting a small but audible growl.

Cherippo backed away and arched his back. "Growl back Cherippo!" commanded Carlos. Cherippo growled creepily through it's teeth. "Grurbururuburu"

Cherippo's growl left Nevermore wary of him. "Don't let it get to you, Nevermore. Use Peck!" Aaron commanded.

Despite Aaron's words, Nevermore flew at Cherippo a little hesistant.

Nevermore pecked Cherippo on the nose making him step back. "Tackle Cherippo!" Cherippo jumped in the air and performed a belly flop on the ground in front of him.

The belly flopping provided Nevermore with some time to dodge the incoming attack, which resulted in the Tackle doing less damage than it normally would. "You need to be faster than this, Carlos," Aaron commented. "Nevermore, Peck your opponent again!"

(OOC: sorry about being away for so long. I've decided to get back into this.)

The peck hit cherippo strait in the nose leaving a considerable cut. "You got more than that in you cherippo! Go for a tackle!" Cherippo leaped forward strait off its back legs at the nevermore with its front legs outstretched and its ear-wings flapping vigorously.

Cherippo managed to lift itself off the ground a little bit just because of its sheer vigor. It slammed into Nevermore, dazing the bird. "Nevermore, reduce its firepower! Growl!" Aaron commanded. Nevermore shook itself off and cawed ferociously at your vigorous hippo.

Cherippo retracted a bit and muttered towards the ground. "Cherippo! Don't give in to his stupid growl Pull yourself together! Go for a counter growl!" Cherippo gave a dark bellow at the bird Pokemon.

This time it was Nevermore that backed away. "Don't let it scare you, Nevermore," Aaron said, "confront it with your beak and use Peck!" After it had recovered from shivering, Nevermore rushed towards Cherippo, with its beak pointed forward.

Cherripo saw the screaming little bird rushing for him and quickly maneuvered into a ready position. "Cherripo get him with a tackle!" Cherripo nodded and launched himself as far as his little hippo feet could in the direction of nevermore who was still on his way.

Both pokémon crashed into each other. As the dust from the impact cleared, Nevermore could be seen walking away from Cherippo, increasingly unsteady on its feet, before collapsing on the ground. Cherippo was still standing.
"You did well, Nevermore, return!" Aaron recalled his pokémon and tossed his second pokéball to the battlefield. Out of it appeared a red and round pokémon with black spots.
"Ledyba, Growl at your opponent!" Ledyba opened its mouth and did as it was told.

Cherripo cringed a bit at the bugs buzzing hiss. "You gonna take that Cherripo? Use Tackle on the guy! Cherripo shook his head around, brought up his arm and took a strong but clumsy ( the growl still had him a tad frazzled) dive into ledyba.
