I think I saw this too. I dubbed it Babug. I'll see if I can get a sketch of it.

Edit: Got a sketch. I plan to capture one tomorrow.

As you can see, it has very vibrant colors. I think this is supposed to distort it's outline, so predators can't see it. This is helped by it's light.

((Should we really make a baby for Volbeat and Illumise? They aren't even counterparts like Tauros and Miltank are, because Volbeat and Illumise always breed Illumise. Or should it be different and make sense in Bombur?))

(I think it should make sense in Bombur. Let's wait for the Staff to tell us if it is already right here.) (And this makes it possible to get a Volbeat without a Ditto, which would be useful.)

Anyways, it's probably okay, although I'm not sure if Volbeat and Illumise really need a pre-evo. They're pretty basic pokémon already. Also, we're screwed if Nintendo makes one; then again, I rather doubt they will. So, yeah, if you guys really want a common pre-evo for these two, go ahead.

They are counterparts, like Tauros & Miltank, and should get a shared prevo, like Tauros & Miltank.

I think Babug is a rather boring name, no offense. It just seems generic. How about Bulbug (BULB + BUG), instead?

Maybe Insechild? Well, I managed to catch a young one, and so far it's only moves are Tackle, Flash, and Sweet Scent. It is level 5, so I think it learned Sweet Scent recently.

Maybe Flashug? We need to incorporate in its name something about its Flashing or glowing etc. Also, I don't think it should learn Flash by level because if it evolves into Illumise then it's learning a move it really has no sense in learning.
EDIT: I don't think thta sketch is very accurate because real firefly larvae don't have wings.

Just my two cents here - although your point about Miltank and Taurus being counterparts and an evo is a good one, they can get a prevo because they look like evolved pokes. Volbeat and Illumise don't. If anything, they should both get evos.

I hope you guys know that Volbeat and Illumise's designs and body patterns are based of off two subcultures: Flappers (Illumise) and Greasers (Volbeat).

So maybe you guys can have this pre-evolution be based of off a similar (or completely different) subculture.

Making your life a little bit sweeter, one post at a time. ; )
