So Culthultu's is the basic art, Antarctros's is a basic colored sketch, and Decku's is the updated version seen in the topic?

That depends on the pokémon. For the Youthistle line, which I think you're referring to, it's like this:
- Culthulhu drew the original art, which we used to make their GSC-style sprites;
- Antarctros drew a new version, which we used to make their DP-style sprites;
- Deckadecu drew yet another new version, 'official-style', just for this page ^-^

Remember, Deckadecu is drawing PF's pokémon just for this page, so he can go wild on coloring and shading; the other sketches are non-shaded or uncolored because they were in the first place meant and used as a base to make sprites of, not to showcase them.

Yeah, they were. But that means Unherd, Pras, Slepnir, Insomite, & Ramfrio won't be having HGSS (yes, I meant HGSS, they are remakes of GSC, like these should be) Dexes? Or have they just not been made yet?

I am glad you clarify that it is not "the" official style, but rather the style you call "official", defined as beautifully colored and shaded. DeckuZora's pictures, although excellent in clarifying the otherwise ambiguous, incongruous or confusing appearances of the Pokémon depicted in those sprites, looks nothing like Sugimori's. I suppose the Sugimori worker with you remains only Cacapulse.

.....Antarctros's Divertide picture creeps me less than DeckuZora's, through...

Yes, Cacapulse is our most Sugimori-like indeed. And I feel like complimenting him here for doing such awesome sketches. Who knows, maybe he pops out a sketch for a random GSC pokémon once in a while as well; if he does, we'll definitely include it. This Concept Art page can be continuously updated, after all.

Besides, there's another reason I described "official" like that, namely because there is no "official" sketch: all sketches and sprites of a certain PF pokémon are simply different depictions of the same pokémon and are equally 'official' ^-^

That said, we're all happy with Deckadecu who has been doing a great job as a Poster Artist so far ^^

If i read correctly, you posted that Antarctros's sketches are the basis (and ultimately the same pose as, evidently shown by Fawntler and what happened with Culthulhu) for the Generation IV sprites. Well, the aforementioned Pokemon (along with the Comolten line, Tentacute, the Nevermore line, Skietle, & Nymphant) don't have a sketch by Antarctros. So I was asking if they would be appearing later in either the actual position of the Dex in the archive or just later in time period. Probably the latter.

*makes a respectful gesture* I do not mean to offend you, or contribute towards your feelings of being insulted. It is merely that the art style that tends* to impress me the most are art styles that most resemble Sugimori style. If you want to make your art more like Sugimori's, you could ask Cacapulse for help. Cacapulse gives helpful tutorials. (it is not Cacapulse's fault that I simply did not take to them properly, aside from darkening lineart)

Pokémon Factory Worker

Can't do tutorials. I have... issues with taking instruction on how to draw. I draw through experimentation and re-envision. I don't think anyone other than some of the staff remembers that I have a bit of an emotional and attitude problem... It makes doing tutorials and receiving lessons difficult. There's a famous artist in Hawaii named Phil Sabado, and he tried teaching me. He also did my letter of recommendation for high school, but even though I admit he was talented, it's not like I can bow my head and listen to someone. It's not pride, it's insecurity that I've developed from being bullied 10 years...

Anyway, the tutorial Cacapulse directs people to is one he found on deviantart. He shared it plenty of times, but again, I don't wanna be told how to do something. I just want people to tell me what looks off so I can correct it.

Oh, and to be fair, Cacapulse is really a cool person. I remember when Cacapulse first joined as pokeaddict. I just... don't like being compared. Makes me feel bad. Like, I'm someone pathetically trying to compare to a high standard. It's like a worm wishing it were a python. It's hard on me...

So I know you don't mean to offend me or insult me, but it still hurts really bad. I take other people extremely seriously, since I spent 10 years of humiliation at the hands of other kids. Words really eat at me... Oh and I took pretty long to write this... Sorry, I kinda got overly depressed... did something to my hand...

First of all, I don't see a link to the concept art from the sidebar in the website, and I was wondering if that would be added soon.

I think that they are amazing (better than I could ever do) and that emulating Ken in every single way isn't the only option. These drawings are in a different style but they still give me a sense of what the pokemon looks like beyond the little sprite.

Since you say you want people to tell you what looks off so you can correct it, I shall try to do that. Having your feelings remain hurt will not benefit anyone, and despite my inoffensive intentions, my having brought up bad years makes me feel...insensitive.

Your picture of Insomite is much clearer and more understandable than the sprite, and I appreciate its notched mouth. Your picture of Bamboon has definition, and a nice mouth. Nymphant looks cute.

...is there any way I can apologize properly to you? Any way I can offer you emotional...healing?

I don't feel confident enough to reveal my staff forme so I've left it to ShinE to do it for me. I'll just add on after that. Despite age differences, he and Antarctross are probably the staff members I'm closest to.

Anyway, if you feel guilty about me, I feel guilty about making you feel guilty. I know that's a bit off to follow, but truthfully, don't feel guilty, Coolsteph. I really really do like reading everyone's comments about my work. That's why I valued all of your input on my creative projects. I just take it a bit too close to heart when I feel like I failed at something.

If I had a wish - I'd erase my Kindergarten to 8th grade years and give myself a confidence boost... No, that's not quite true. If I erased that, I wouldn't be so conscious about what I say. I don't think I want to lose my insecurities, it's part of who I am... it's just difficult to deal with.

As for an apology, I will not hold you to one. That would be wrong of me. I'm sorry to you though since I'm overly sensitive. Forgive me if you could.

Decku, you remind me of wurmple. It can change into a beautifly, which represents a life worth living and a life full of understanding.

But it can also turn into dustox, which represents a life filled with loneliness and bad thoughts.

Right now you are a level 5 wurmple, just about to set a new life as either a silcoon or a cascoon, but still have enough time to change.

Right now, I see you slowly shifting into a silcoon, and a wonderful person: in the forums and in real life.

Soble: Your metaphor of a Level 5 Wurmple is poetic and creative (yet stereotyped). I presume to "call it a snake" does not render an image of hatred upon all snakekind, so to speak.

By all means....perhaps we could be back on topic? Now that equilibrium is established, I would think that this topic should revolve around the official-style art.
