When Jake stepped in the lab he saw two people, about his age, already getting their Pokemon, but after further inspection they seemed to be arguing. "No, Sheila! It's not yours! I got it first!" Jake saw the boy trying to pull away a pokeball from a very similar-looking girl. He had assumed they were related.

"Oh, you wish, Seth! I totally got it first! Now let go!" Sheila tried pulling the pokeball away from Seth, but he didn't give in. "Seth, Sheila, enough!" A tall man emerged from behind a door marked "Baobab's Office", "I do not think you realize how immature you two are being. And in front of our guest as well!" The Professor sighed and walked over to Jake, "I apologize for that, you see, Seth and Sheila tend to bicker with each other very often and sometimes it gets out of hand if I'm not here."

Seth and Sheila both tilted their heads in embarrassment and apologized, "Sorry, Professor..." said Sheila, "but you have to tell Seth that I got the pokeball first!" Professor Baobab put his hand to his forehead and walked over to the siblings, "Now, tell me Sheila, how do you expect me to now who got it first if I wasn't here?" Sheila paused for a moment and replied, "Um... well, I dunno. I thought you would figure that out." The Professor sighed, "Ah, very well. I'll flip a coin, Sheila gets heads and Seth gets tails, whichever side the coin lands on gets it."

The Professor flung the coin into the air, it spun and spun until he caught it. It was... tails! "C'mon Professor! What is it?" Stephen looked at the coin and said, "Seth gets the pokeball, so pick another one, Sheila. "What?! Aww, man..." As Sheila went to the bin full of pokeballs, Seth stuck his tongue out at her. "Stop it you jerk! It's not funny!" She yelled, "Gosh, whatever."

"Ugh, they're an awful hand-full." Baobab thought to himself. "Okay Sheila, watch in awe of my awesome Pokemon!" Seth tossed his pokeball onto the floor, it shot out a red beam and began to form a Pokemon, "Trop-iii-us!" The huge Pokemon roared and looked at Seth. "T-This is... my starter? Are you sure it isn't evolved already, Professor?" The Professor answered, "Well... Tropius isn't known to evolve to or from anything, so I guess it counts." Seth smiled excitedly, "Oh, this is so awesome."

"Now Seth, please put it back in its pokeball so we can scan it." Said the Professor as he unveiled a machine under some old cloth. "Alright, here goes nothing." The Professor hesitantly pushed the power switch. The machine lit up and began to grumble a bit before becoming silent. An automated computer voice emanated from the machine, "Greetings, and thank you for using Chrysalis Tech brand Pokemon scanners. Please place the pokeball in the slot to begin the scanning process." Seth placed the pokeball in the hollow space. A bright neon-blue light glowed from below the pokeball. Two mechanical arms then came out of the machine and began to scan the Pokeball. "Scanning... Retrieving data... Scanning complete. You may now remove the Pokeball from the slot." Seth removed the pokeball and looked at the bright computer screen.
