When Jake stepped in the lab he saw two people, about his age, already getting their Pokemon, but after further inspection they seemed to be arguing. "No, Sheila! It's not yours! I got it first!" Jake saw the boy trying to pull away a pokeball from a very similar-looking girl. He had assumed they were related.

"Oh, you wish, Seth! I totally got it first! Now let go!" Sheila tried pulling the pokeball away from Seth, but he didn't give in. "Seth, Sheila, enough!" A tall man emerged from behind a door marked "Baobab's Office", "I do not think you realize how immature you two are being. And in front of our guest as well!" The Professor sighed and walked over to Jake, "I apologize for that, you see, Seth and Sheila tend to bicker with each other very often and sometimes it gets out of hand if I'm not here."

Seth and Sheila both tilted their heads in embarrassment and apologized, "Sorry, Professor..." said Sheila, "but you have to tell Seth that I got the pokeball first!" Professor Baobab put his hand to his forehead and walked over to the siblings, "Now, tell me Sheila, how do you expect me to now who got it first if I wasn't here?" Sheila paused for a moment and replied, "Um... well, I dunno. I thought you would figure that out." The Professor sighed, "Ah, very well. I'll flip a coin, Sheila gets heads and Seth gets tails, whichever side the coin lands on gets it."

The Professor flung the coin into the air, it spun and spun until he caught it. It was... tails! "C'mon Professor! What is it?" Stephen looked at the coin and said, "Seth gets the pokeball, so pick another one, Sheila. "What?! Aww, man..." As Sheila went to the bin full of pokeballs, Seth stuck his tongue out at her. "Stop it you jerk! It's not funny!" She yelled, "Gosh, whatever."

"Ugh, they're an awful hand-full." Baobab thought to himself. "Okay Sheila, watch in awe of my awesome Pokemon!" Seth tossed his pokeball onto the floor, it shot out a red beam and began to form a Pokemon, "Trop-iii-us!" The huge Pokemon roared and looked at Seth. "T-This is... my starter? Are you sure it isn't evolved already, Professor?" The Professor answered, "Well... Tropius isn't known to evolve to or from anything, so I guess it counts." Seth smiled excitedly, "Oh, this is so awesome."

"Now Seth, please put it back in its pokeball so we can scan it." Said the Professor as he unveiled a machine under some old cloth. "Alright, here goes nothing." The Professor hesitantly pushed the power switch. The machine lit up and began to grumble a bit before becoming silent. An automated computer voice emanated from the machine, "Greetings, and thank you for using Chrysalis Tech brand Pokemon scanners. Please place the pokeball in the slot to begin the scanning process." Seth placed the pokeball in the hollow space. A bright neon-blue light glowed from below the pokeball. Two mechanical arms then came out of the machine and began to scan the Pokeball. "Scanning... Retrieving data... Scanning complete. You may now remove the Pokeball from the slot." Seth removed the pokeball and looked at the bright computer screen.

"Squirt! Squirtle!" It said as it joyfully jumped up and down. "W-Wait a minute!! That Squirtle... it... it's differently colored! J-Jake, I don't think you realize how rare this is!" Jake stared blankly at the giddy Professor, he never saw anyone that excited and astonished by anything before, so he knew he got something very special.

((Uh, I'm supposed to do the scan, but that's okay.))

"I'm glad you like your Squirtle, Jake! You are quite the lucky one." The Professor cleared his throat and continued, "I think I'm forgetting something... Oh, right! Your Pokedex!" The Professor hastily walked to a nearby desk and scattered the many papers and other objects to find the it. He then pulled out a small, red device. "Here it is! Your shiny, new Pokedex! Use this to get information on a Pokemon. It should prove useful to you on your adventure. But one thing, try not to lose it, they're not easy to replace, you know!"

The Professor chuckled for a moment, then continued, "So anyway, good luck, Jake."

((Oh yeah, I forgot about that.))

"Oh, why yes, you can! I completely forgot about those. Did you want a different color other than red?"

The Professor pulled out a blue Pokedex from a small box, it looked as though it were in mint-condition.

"Blue, huh? Good choice. Y'know, I hear that certain colors send out different sound waves that attract certain Pokemon. I'm not sure if it's true or not. Anyway, good luck!" The Professor waved to Jake as he stepped out of the lab.

Right outside the lab, Jake saw the old folks of Pan Town gathering at the entrance to Pan Road, he could tell that something was going on.

"Hey, Jake!" A voice from behind Jake said, it was Seth, the boy that Jake met earlier, "I think the gym leader of Clove Town is putting on another show again. She does it every month, promising a new act. Let's go see it-- I'm sure you'll like it."

Jake and the others pushed and shoved to get to the front of the crowd, "Oh, look you guys!" Sheila exclaimed, "I think they're preparing for the final act!" Jake, Sheila, and Seth watched excitedly as the final act was being performed.

"Alright Sunflora and Jumpluff! Are you ready? Ha, okay! Use Petal Dance, Sunflora, and Jumpluff use Cotton Spore!" Her Jumpluff and Sunflora gracefully leaped into the air and used their respective moves. A plethora of petals and spores were scattered into the air, creating a spinning cloud of beautiful petals. The spores only accented what was already a wondrous sight. "Now, Jumpluff and Sunflora, get in your positions! And... now!" Jumpluff and Sunfora jumped into the cloud of petals and spores and blew them away with sheer force. "Great job, you guys!" She said. The crowd cheered and clapped, amazed by her performance. "Aww, you guys are too much, ha ha! Well, I'd better be going back to Clove Town, see you next month!"

After the show, Jake and the others continued on through Pan Road to get to their next destination, Fluet Forest.

"Well, y'know Jake, my Dad said that the best thing to do is to build a team to counter your disadvantages. Like, maybe you could try and catch a Bug-type Pokemon, or maybe a Fire or Flying-type. I hear that those work very well against Grass-types. Heh, my Dad would always teach me and Seth about battling. I miss him." Sheila looked down after mentioning her Dad. It was as though something happened to him. Jake paid it no mind, though.

"So, Jake... what made you decide to come here? Did you have any Pokemon before coming here?" Seth asked as he and the others continued to trek through the road.

"Of course I do!" Jake said, "Here in Pan Road, there's plenty of Flying-types. And I think Smoochum can be found around here. If you're not really interested in those, then there's always the plentiful Bug-types of Fluet Forest. Heh, there's lots to choose from, Jake."


After a while of walking, Jake and the others decided to rest on a nearby log, it looked very old and ready to collapse but it was surprisingly sturdy. "Phew! This road is longer than I thought..." Sheila said as she stretched her body. "Seth and I haven't been here in a very long time so we sort of forgot how long it was. I think we're almost near Fluet Forest, though."

After their rest they decided to walk again, this time with their Pokemon. "Alright, Lotad, come on out!" Sheila tossed her Pokeball into the air, it opened and released a red plasma, which formed into Lotad, "Tad. Lotad." It said lazily. "C'mon and get some sunshine, Tropius!" As Seth's Tropius was released from its Pokeball, it flapped its wings and stretched, "Tro-piii-us!" It roared.

"So... shall we continue on to Fluet Forest?" Asked Sheila.

((Oops, my bad!))

"Ha ha, true." Sheila giggled at Jake's sarcasm.

After a few minutes Jake and the others passed by a sign; it notified travelers of the nearby Fluet Forest, they knew by looking at the sign that the forest was not very far away. "Hey, look! I can see Fluet Forest in the distance! C'mon you two, let's hurry!" Seth ran ahead of Sheila and Jake, excited to finally be arriving at Fluet Forest. Jake and Sheila were left behind by Seth, but they eventually caught up to him.

"Wow, Jake..." Sheila said as she was trying to catch her breath, "You can... run really fast... faster than I thought!" Sheila complimented, "Yeah, I didn't know either. Anyway... oh! What's this?" Seth bent down and grabbed an object, he assumed someone had dropped it while they were heading inside Fluet Forest. "It looks like a Dusk Stone..." Sheila said, "Yeah, it does. You think someone dropped it?" Asked Seth, "Probably. Let's keep it for now, then we'll return it to whoever lost it." Sheila suggested. "Yeah, good idea."

Jake and the others finally arrived at their destination, now they just needed to get through the forest. Luckily, signposts were built to prevent travelers from getting lost.

As Jake and the others trekked through the forest, they arrived at an abandoned greenhouse, it looked very old; its paint was chipped, the windows on the roof were broken, and vines were growing all around it. They had heard many rumors of oddly dressed people entering the greenhouse for who knows what, and strange sounds and lights coming from the roof. "Oh, hey," said Sheila, "It's that creepy greenhouse again." Seth turned to the greenhouse's direction, "Oh, yeah, I remember that place. Me and Sheila used to play here when we were little. I think an old woman used to live there..." Seth said, rubbing his chin, trying to remember the woman's name, "Oh right! It was Shirley! Yeah, she was really nice and-- Hey!" Sheila grabbed Seth's arm and pulled him, "Hey, let's stop reminiscing and continue on, okay?" Seth escaped from Sheila's grip, "Ouch! Jeez, Sheila..." Seth rubbed his arm.

After a while, Jake and the others kept passing by the greenhouse, dumbfounded, they began to realize that they were going in circles. "Aw, man. We're going in circles, and those signposts aren't helping at all. What do we do know?" Sheila asked.
