Opal looked at the gleaming blue-and-yellow badge in her hand, which seemed to just glow with authority. "Thank you sir, I'll make sure to make use of it." With that she left the lab assistant behind, trying to stick the pin on her shirt without success. She finally put it in her bag, figuring she would just show it when she needed to. Route 301 seemed longer than what she had thought, and it was already starting to become dark. She decided to camp for the night, finding a small grove of trees to set up camp. When everything had been readied, she let out Clacky and Harpy, thinking they could use the exercise. Harpy seemed a little dubious of his new master, but he seemed to be doing fine. Opal settled down in her sleepy bag and dozed off without recalling her Pokemon.

When she woke up, she saw Clacky slumped next to her pillow, and Harpy already up and skittering up and down a nearby tree. Suddenly a cloud of smoke enveloped the camp, and Opal couldn't see anything. She looked quickly around, wondering where the attack had come from. Even in the dimness of morning, she could clearly make out a short green pepper with... legs? She rubbed her eyes, thinking she was still dreaming, but she looked again and it was still there. In fact, the Smokescreen had come from the strange Pokemon. Thinking of how rare something like this must be, she decided to catch it. She had no idea what type it was, but she figured Harpy could use some practice. She called over the bug Pokemon, who looked just as confused as she was. He must not have cared as much, however, as it immediately shot a Poison Sting towards the Pokemon. It cried in pain, then retaliated with another Smokescreen.

Opal was confused. Was this Pokemon so young it could only use Smokescreen? She figured this would be an easy fight. "Harpy, another Poison Sting!" But the Harpillar had already fired off multiple attacks, hitting the chili-pepper Pokemon dead-on each time. It fell down, and Opal threw another of her Pokeballs, easily catching the strange Pokemon. She walked through the still-lying smoke, and picked up the Pokeball. She had not thought to scan the Pokemon, and now took out her Pokedex and waved it over the ball.

Jalapuego? That wasn't a name she had heard before. Nor had she heard of a Grass/Fire Pokemon. She shrugged and put the Pokeball on her belt, then recalled her other Pokemon and continued the walk to Labyrock City.

((Um... Jalapuego isn't Rare. It's Uncommon. Either way, I'll post the next part of the story tomorrow. I'm doing a post a day.))
The Pidgeot took Opal past Labyrock City to the larger Fernto City, and set her down at the entrance. It then flew back to its master in Labyrock, leaving Opal confused. Fernto City had many police officers patrolling the streets, but not as many as Labyrock had. She walked up to a nearby officer and asked, "Excuse me. What's the problem here?" She showed her badge, hoping he would understand.

"Go, Clacky!" Opal threw her Pokeball out, releasing her starter. It looked around, and noticed the Pokemon on the other side. "Now, Clacky, use Bubble!" Out of Clacky's mouth came a volley of shining blue bubbles that hit the Magby square in the chest, pushing it back a foot.

Clacky was knocked backwards by the Pound, but Snorunt quickly jumped aside to avoid the Ember. "All right, Clacky, use another Bubble on Magby!" Frein nodded, and commanded, "Snorunt, use Powder Snow on the others!" Clacky shot a stream of bubbles toward Magby, and a snow-filled breeze flew towards the Grunts' Pokemon from Snorunt.

The Powder Snow melted in mid-air, creating a slick surface on the ground. Officer Frein commanded, "Snorunt! Use Double Team!" Snorunt started vibrating, then suddenly there were ten Snorunts around the area, surrounding the Grunts' Pokemon. Opal saw an opportunity to make a move. "Clacky! Use Bubble on the ground by the other Pokemon!" The Bubbles streamed around the Magby and Smoochum, creating an icy surface around their feet. Opal then returned Clacky and sent out Harpy, hoping to get some more practice.

"Harpy, use Poison Sting behind you!" "Snorunt, use Powder Snow on the ground by Magby!" The bug Pokemon whipped around and fired a volley of purple needles at Smoochum, and Snorunt created a slick surface around the Magby's feet, then dove out of the way of the Ember, just barely missing Harpy.

Harpy was somewhat damaged by the Lick, and wobbled around before accidentally shooting a Poison Sting at Magby. Snorunt, however, was stuck in the "Fire Spin" with no way out, and stood still, frightened.

"All right, goons, get out of our way!" Opal yelled. "Or we'll take you to the police station with us!" the officer commanded. The two grunts looked at each other, then ran off. Opal turned to the Officer. "So, we going to the station now?"

Opal recalled Harpy and released Clacky again. "Alright Clacky, aim a Bubble right at the Glairnus!" The Clarva clicked its claws a few times, then blew a stream of bubbles towards the enemy Pokemon.
((Is Glairnus really man-like? I always thought it was more of a serpent. Also, this will be my last post in this RPG until July, so don't feel rushed to reply. ))
