Honestly, most unknown pokemon that people are always like, "lul, wut?" about would have to be Skuntank or Mawile. Mawile is epic, but it's a single stage and annoyingly hard to locate. You'll catch it eventually, and be like this only days later: "When did I catch a Mawile?" Skuntank on the other hand is used frequently by bosses in Galactic, however, it's amazingly ignored, mostly for the fact that it's signature moves are all shared with the more popular Koffing line. Koffing also has the plus of Explosion and Selfdestruct. It also has the, "Ugh, gross, really Nintendo?" factor, and most people generally stay away from it. Poor Skuntank... It's typing isn't even special. I mean, only Stunky, Skuntank and Drapion share the Poison/Dark typing, but would you really take Skuntank over Drapion? Really? Drapion has a much better movepool competitively then most poison types, and Skuntank suffers miserably.

Oh and to JDLJDL's comment on every pokemon being in the anime, Porygon 2 and Porygon Z have never appeared in an anime EVER. The same goes for Speed forme Deoxys.
