Okay. Night Desert it is then.

You hear of a place called the Night Desert. You decide it seemed an interesting, yet strange place to visit, so you use your recently captured Papeather to send in money for a train ride to Night Desert. The next day, you arrive in the desert. The black sand is very hot, and from your current position, you can see the Meteor Volcano. In the distance, you see a bright yellow. You look in its direction and see a large lizard. It was a yellow with black spots. It had a rather fat, bright red tail. You try to get closer, but its tail starts glowing. You hear a sudden popping noise, and its tail is blazing with orange fire! It flees suddenly, leaving a trail of white smoke behind it. You get in the shade of a palm tree, thinking of what to call the leopard gecko-like lizard.

The crackling tail is making me think Geckoal.

Geckoal is correct. The black spots are supposed to be coal. It is Fire type. It is a standalone. New hint later.

Edit: Okay, new hint. This pokemon's evo is epicness.

After some rest at an oasis, you see an odd pokemon in the distance. It appeared to be a mummy of a young child, though it's legs and arms are missing. In there place, sand is pouring out. There is only one coloumn (however you spell it) of sand is pouring out in place of legs. It somehow catches sight of you in the shade of the the date tree. A sandstorm turns up, the creature in the middle, and it floats away. In the place of the creature, was just old strips of gauz (Egyptian bandages). You fall back in the pitch black sand from heat and pour water in your mouth, all the while thinking of names.

No. It looks young for a mummy and you have to use gauz.

Correct. Youngauz evolves into the mummified torso with a crown and bandages wrapping around its sand arms Kingauz by leveling up while holding a King's Rock. New hint later.
