Oran crawled out of his tent (he had been so exited to start he had set up a tent to the left of the professors lab) well time to go in! he said. wonder what I should choose. maybe holliguana or perhaps ninemone or xoskillitin? ill just decide when I go in. and having said so he went to the door opened it and came in to a room with a table in the middle with six pokeballs. anyone here? he called into the room.

(OOC: Also, please don't bump your topics. I reply to posts starting from the bottom of the list of topics with new posts, since that is the easiest way to determine which have been waiting for a reply longest. Bumping your thread moves it back up to the top of the list, means you will actually have to wait longer. Also, the lab would have 10 groups of pokeballs: the nine starters and a group of randoms.)

"Yes, just a moment," called a voice from elsewhere in the lab. A few moments later a young man wearing a lab coat walked in from a room off to one side. "Hello there," Aaron said. "You here for your first pokemon?"

"Well, we have three Fire-types to choose from," Aaron said. He begain explaining, pointing to each group of pokeballs in turn as he named their contents. "We have the comet-like Commolten, which evolves into a Fire/Steel pokemon. There's Xoskillitn, a scorpion-like pokemon that's part Poison. And there's also Agunni, a djinn whose evolutions are part Ghost." After a pause he pointed to a fourth group of pokeballs and added, "Although, if you're feeling lucky you could try picking one of the pokeballs containing random pokemon. You could get a Fire-type out of one of those, although we would have no way of knowing until you opened it up. And once you open a pokeball, the pokemon is yours, no matter what it is."

"So," he concluded, turning toward Oran, "which one would you like?"

Aaron again pointed to the first group of pokeballs he had indicated and said, "These ones. Pick any one, then let it out so you can meet it. When you've done that, you can find out a bit more about it by returning it to its pokeball and placing it on that machine." The pointed to a boxy device in one corner that had a slot for a pokeball and a screen on its front.

(OOC: can I still get a tiqail even though may is over if not Ill edit the post.)
Oran grabs a pokeball from the group and sends it out, the comolten appears saying "molten comolten" Oran says hi comolten. then returns it and puts its pokeball in the machine. Suddenly a postork flys through the open door and drops a tiqail shortly followed by a cherish ball into Orans hand Oran then says " wow a tiquail and it looks like its shiny, and I've never seen a pokeball like this".

The machine hummed before displaying some information:

Moves:
Scratch: [Nrm]
Scratches the foe with sharp claws.

Leer: [Nrm]

Frightens the foe with a leer to lower DEFENSE.

"While we're here," Aaron said, "Would you like to find out the moves of your Tiquail, too? If not, we can move on to the next thing we have to do."

(( ooc: I thought it was scratch and leer for comolten unless I'm wrong its sukus who starts with tackle and growl))

(OOC: You're right. I had copied the format from another post, and must have forgotten to change the attacks. It's fixed now.)

"In that case, just follow me," Aaron said. "It'll be easier to show you what we do next when we get to the right place for it."

He led Oran to the back of the lab and through a door, which opened to a room that had a grassy lawn for a floor. It also had no ceiling, and rows of small white flowers grew in the grass, marking out the lines for a pokemon battlefield. "Your last task is your first Gym battle, against me!" Aaron announced.

"Ok then bring it on, go comolten!" said oran as he tossed the pokeball towards the middle of the field. "molten" cried comolten as it came out of the pokeball.

Aaron nodded and tossed out his own pokeball. "It's that time again, Nevermore!" His dark bird pokemon burst out of the ball and started sizing up its opponent even as it settled into the field.

"Start with a Tackle," Aaron instructed.

His pokemon cawwed in recognition and dashed forward to deliver the attack.

Nevermore struck comolten quite hard knocking it out of the air for a second. "Okay comolten scratch it while it's still close" yelled Oran, comolten flew over to nevermore and delivered a scratch.

Comolten's attack struck home, raking across Nevermore and making the bird squawk unhappily.

"Back up and Growl," Aaron called.

His pokemon obediently hopped a few steps back before growling loudly.

"comolten ignore the growl and scratch the nevermore again" yelled Oran to comolten. Comolten still seemed a bit uneased by the growl but flew over to scratch the dark bird. (edit: wrong signature)

Again Comolten's swipe made contact with Nevermore, nearly knocking the bird down.

"Quick, Peck while it's close," said Aaron.

His pokemon obediently jabbed at Comolten with its beak.

the peck made contact and comolten winced, "try to clip its wings with a scratch comolten" called Oran Comolten heard and flew with a scratch towards nevermore.
