I usually pick whoever I like, regardless of gender. It's usually the female, though.

I tend to be a male first then play as a female the next game. From then on I pretty much am only a male, as I am in real life.

Truthfully, I've never chosen the female character. Just feels a little weird to me.

I usually choose the male, like I am in real life. Something wierd is the male character in DPPt is named Lucas, which is my name. I know somebody who always chooses the female and he's male. Creepy.

50/50 for me, really - I pick both on regular basis. Male in real life, and I see nothing odd in picking the female *character*, even if I did it all the time... *shrugs*

Same gender = Male. Though I´m not Lucas I feel very identified with the DPPt trainer.
My bro doesn´t mind choosing female either, he named the rival after himself though. And I´ve known people who names her after his girlfriend.

The only time I played the girl trainer was in Pokemon Quartz, where the boy trainer is just too unbearably ugly.

Yeah, same here, seeing as I'm a boy. They need a girl rival that's not the other player character.

I choose boy every time! ...Except in my Platinum when I wasn't paying attention and chose girl. I had trouble redirecting my hatred to Lucas.

I've always wondered what the boy looks like in Quartz. I also was wondering if the creator actually put in a female rival for the male character. That LP is absolutely awesome, btw. One of my favorites.
