I have an idea for the their appearances:

M41rus could be a spider made out of a computer chip, with the "legs" of the chip making up it's legs and mandibles.

M41rus+ would become more like a worm with a segmented spine growing out of what was once it's stomach in order to store the all the data it has devoured. Surrounding the spine would be a tangible but semi transparent "skin" made up of data that breaks up just after the final segment.

for some bizarre reason, the first picture keeps on coming out upside down, no matter what I do to the file.

I decided to whip up a couple of concept drawings. They're not neccesarily M41rus and M41rus+ respectively, either one could be either one or neither... If you understand what I'm on about. The first one is inspired by distorted pixels with some insect features, and the other one is obviously inspired by the "walrus" play on words, lol. Don't except either of them to be used, but I drew them and thought I might as well share them.

My favorite would be Gamermaster's, though they need more of a computer chippy appearance. That would be texture-wise.

I have to agree, Gamermaster's are better. (Well... The Walrus is cool, but it doesn't really fit the suggestion. :P)

Well the Chip part would probably be green like a circuit board with dark green circut patterns and the legs... I'd have to say yellow, but this is nostalgia from my attempted pokemon fan game that had a computer chip pokemon with that coloration (which I got the inspiration for the M41ru5 design from). Alternatively they could be Silver. The two circles that become M41rus+'s eye lids could be black. The segments of the body would be whatever color the legs are, although this would only be shown with the tip of the final segment, as the rest are covered by the data "skin." Speaking of said skin, it would be the same color as the chip part, circuit patterns and all, but with the outlines of the segments within visible.

For the shiny coloration, swap the following

green -> blue

dark green -> dark blue

silver/yellow -> Bronze or gold

And Here's what they'd look like without the circuit patterns, as I lack the artistic ability to add those in:

exactly my point, it's all suggestions anyways. Another thing... I'm surprised I didn't see this suggested anywhere (or maybe it's there and I missed it) but wouldn't a type combination of Electric/Bug make the most sense? Seeing as both AlexFantastico's and my designs showed bug like qualities.

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING MIGHT NOT BE APPROPRIATE FOR PEOPLE WHO HATE IT WHEN A PERSON HAS A NEED TO ALWAYS BE RIGHT.

Steel type doesn't really make sense because since these are computer viruses and not "real world" creatures, they wouldn't have any metal on them to classify as such. Also the only reason (as far as I can tell) that cyber moves are normal (despite them being made up of data, in other words electrical current) is because the only official Pokémon that fall into the category of "cyber" would be the Porygon line, a group that was specifically programed to be able to interact with the "real world" in the way that a Normal type Pokémon would. M41ru5 and M41ru5+ on the other hand are glitches that in the "real world" would take on the characteristics of what they are made of (which in this case would be bugged up data) since they don't have anything in their programing that could tell them to do otherwise.

I would suggest giving them a type that makes no sense *Normal/Birdcoff* to point out their glitchy nature, but that would probably be too gag-y. :/

I personally think that Normal/Electric might work as Cacapulse said, normal happens to be the case for cyber moves. However it is also used in cyber pokemon, such as porygon's evolutions. and Electric would be reference to computers which use electricity.
