I am now reviewing free online games from places such as Newgrounds and Armor Games!
My reviews are based on a four-star system. Each one is based around:
Graphics: How much effort the creator(s) put into drawing and animating this.
Plot/Concept: Basically if the goal of the game is clear and makes sense.
Playability: Two examples would be glitch occurance and hit detection.
Music: Stuff gotta sound good, bro.
One star, half a star, or no stars will be given to each of these categories. Meaning four stars is the most and no stars is the least, but I really don't see no stars possible.
Here's my first review: Super Mafia Land, one of the most popular games on Armor Games:
Graphics: This is pretty much one of the only high points of the game. 1 star.
Plot/Concept: It's supposed to be a tribute to Mario, but they ruined it by adding the mechanic of grabbing turnips out of the ground. Earth to Giuseppe: You kill enemies by JUMPING on them. No star.
Playability: Firstly, you character is SLOW. All the time you are thinking, "Move faster. Move faster." There IS a running mechanic, but holding down the action button doesn't really give you much freedom. Secondly, SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW I'M SUPPOSED TO KILL THIS FLESH-BIRD THING. No stars.
Music: Classic Mario sound effects mixed with fun music. 1 star.
Bottom line: Even though it's really popular, you can't define it as 'fun'. 2 stars - 'Average'
