(This topic is for the purpose of discussing the PF Community's opinions on the (English) theme songs of each season of the Pokémon animé/anime. Stating merely "Yeah the first one song is for the win" is....not helpful to clarifiying how you feel about the songs, and prescisely how it appeals to you. This is not a topic purely for the gathering of cheer and agreement on a subject; this is meant to be an well-phrased discussion of appeal and various tastes. So, do not state just that you like a song, state exactly what about it appeals to you. You may also comment on the montages of images within each theme song.)

Most people like the first, myself included---it has a hopeful, rising theme, creating dramatic buildup, with a victorious, confident crescendo.

However, I dislike the...chant-like, forceful, pointed rhythms of the second, the Adventures in the Orange Islands theme.

The third one, Pokémon Johto Journeys, is...cheery, upbeat and uplifting, with the "du-du-do-du-du-do" in the background a taseful rhythmic addition, along with sporting a singer with a skilled, well-tuned voice.

Born to Be a Winner does borrow from the first theme, but this does not seem a bad thing, as the first theme song must be popular with fans, and otherwise relates to the continuation of Ash's journey, as it was depicted in the first theme. The song itself sports more...techno-oriented themes and instruments than the other songs, and more emphasis on the sport of Pokémon battling, its challenges (the Gym Leaders) and its arenas, as well as showcasing the fierce and impressive traits of various Pokémon (Ash's Charizard, Houndoom, Steelix) in the montage.

Yeah, I love both the Johto theme songs. Mainly because they show Ash in his final moments of okayness before Hoenn. Especially Johto Journeys. "It's a whole new world we live in... But you still gotta catch them all, and be the best that you can be!" Also extreme nostalgia on that one as it's when I really got into pokemon. And probably my favorite line from all of them is from Born to be a Winner: "Pokemon, pokemon, pokemon... let's do it." I just go, "Awww yeah, pokemon can be badass and this song proves it." And I actually don't dislike We All Live in a Pokemon World that much, because it does have a valid rhythm.

Advanced Battle is okay as is Advanced Challenge, and Battle Frontier was okay. Mainly because they're the only other ones with a rhythm. Master Quest is the same thing. Pokemon Advanced is great in the opening lines: "Just a kid from Pallet Town... with a whole new world to see..." If it had stayed in that vein, it would have been great. Then they start autotuning and talking about heroes and it all breaks down.

Diamond and Pearl... about as good as Advanced Challenge for the same reasons. I'm sorry, but after that... it loses all rhythm.

Overall, Johto Journeys and Born to Be a Winner are by far the best except in my opinion. Everything else is okay, and the first one is great. Pokemon Advanced is probably my 4th favorite for reasons stated above.

The last one... makes me cringe, especially the end where they all randomly cry out. Pokemon Special theme song also sucks.

Oh yeah, one interesting fact - pause Advanced Battle right when Team Rocket come in and there's a Weavile that jumps in and surprises them... even though this was 3rd gen.

This is along with Munchlax who's in the theme. Mime Jr. too.

My favorite them was Unbeatable; I think it was the 8th season, Pokemon: Advance Battle.

I liked the Johto theme from the forth movie as well as the other Johto theme from the other movie... the third one I think with Entei and the Unown, I can't quite recall the name :P

Season 1 (Pokemon)- "Pokemon Theme" Probably the best, it's really catchy and it has the nostalgia factor
Season 2 (Orange Islands)- "Pokemon World" Though the song is pretty good I was never a fan of Orange Islands
Season 3 (Johto Journeys)- "Pokemon Johto" The "doo-doo-doo-doo" sticks in your head, and it's so cheery
Season 4 (Johto League Champions)- "Born to Be a Winner" Definitely one of the better songs. It has the competitive edge to it, and it reprises the original
Season 5 (Master Quest)- "Believe In Me" Though it definitely isn't bad, it doesn't compete with some of the other ones. It's good in its own right though.
Season 6 (Advanced)- "I Wanna Be a Hero" If it would have stuck with the "A kid from Pallet town" tune, it definitely would have been good. But nope. I don't like this one.
Season 7 (Advance Challenge)- "This Dream" Quite interesting. Not much else to say about it.
Season 8 (Advance Battle)- "Unbeatable" DEFINITELY one of the best ones in my opinion. It has an awesome beat and you can sing along to it very well
Season 9 (Battle Frontier)- "Battle Frontier" Another really good one. As the final RSE-era theme song, this really captures the feeling that you've just returned from an epic journey.
Season 10 (Diamond and Pearl)- "Diamond and Pearl" Why did they decide to go with a rap? Nonetheless it's KIND of catchy.
Season 11 (DP Battle Dimension)- "We Will Be Heroes" It's good. Though, ultimately it's not really all that catchy.
Season 12 (DP Galactic Battle)- "Battle Cry (Stand Up!)" Quite forgettable. I don't really like this one.

(Destiny rhymes with useful things.) (remember, explain exactly why you like the songs, instead of just agreeing that it is good.)

Believe in Me might not be the most original in lyrics, but it does have a....screechier (negative connotations aside) theme than the others. The "To be a master is my dream..." line, with Ash looking contemplatingly on a hill overlooking the stadium...now that is a moment of tune; a cool moment within the energetic song. (additionally...."me and my friends". I still think it is correct, especially since "my friends and I" is a stiff way to say it)

Advanced---true, I never noticed it before, but it does have words that appear auto-tuned. The voice seems different, (more hoarse?) than the others, but it does have some striking imagery (Absol's scythe slices into the next scene of the rising sun on the arena). The "electric-guitar triple strike notes" after "give me just one chance" does have a distinctive edge.

Advanced Challenge...the "every Trainer has a choice, to listen to the voice inside" was...I believe the term, by TV Tropes, is "narmy", (although that's being hypocritical, since surely the first was even "narmier") but the strong beat of the guitar strike afterward is a tasteful return to a more energetic rhythm. The song suffers from....less meticulously-arranged imagery than the others, for it could have used a more striking montage.

Unbeatable's "oh-oh-oh" was...makeshift for rhythm and rhyme, and I do not like makeshift. Nothing rhymes with "unbeatable". But, it does have a rhythm much like the first, and the second part of the song (unlike other second parts of other theme songs) is actually bearable. (my comparisons suffer from a lack of high-quality, not metallic-sounding recordings, intact with images, of the song on YouTube)
