Yep, I'm into it too. I read Trapinch's Sprite Guide, and here's where I'll show my work!

This is Razzenhine. My first suggestion, and my first sprite. I blew it up so you could see it, and thus it's very blurry. It's also because Paint messes stuff up when you exit the window. It'd be much better if you could see the original, un-blurred piece. Any way to fix this?

So that means I'm doing the sprite over, because once it's blurred it's blurred. Ugh. I'll edit when I'm done.

Don't blow it up. The whole concept of sprites is that they are pixelated images that appear blended when they are smaller. Making the pixels obvious by enlarging it is what ruins the effect. We're supposed to see it small.
Good first try though for sure.

Hmm, try uploading it in places like tinypic.com or imageshack.us , these websites lets you upload picture and also gives you the BBcode for posting the picture into forums. Although I wonder... how did it came out big? =/

The best place to upload sprites I've found in Photobucket because you can post them directly from there to here by clicking on the little camrea icon when you go intoi the big 'Add Reply' box.

REVIVEDIT: Flarsable used a Golden Feather!

So, I said multiple times (mostly on the IRC) that I'd be doing some sprites of PF Pokemon from the GSC era in hopes of making them better. With my poor quality skills, that's probably not going to happen. But I can at least try. I'll even make comments below that make me sound bad.

Theses are Chesset. Because there are six different forms, there will be six different comments.

Pawn Chesset should have been really easy. But it wasn't. I kept on drawing the sword too small, I suck at eyes, and giving it a statue-esque look makes it look terrible.

Bishop Chesset took forever to find. I passed it a couple of times because I wanted to start with the pawn, but it must've taken offense to that and hid from me. When I did find it, I decidd that the shepherd's staff-looking this was a real staff with magic in it. It makes me wonder why the piece that's most likely to be carrying a sword was the only Chesset that didn't. I made its face look like the real piece's because it looks like it's stoned in the official sprite. The bishop was the second best, I was impressed. Maybe it was the badass visor.

Knight Chesset really just proves that I cannot draw horses. The snout never looks right, I screwed up the sword, and the back above the sword is out-of-shape.

Rook Chesset's face reminded me of the Problem? troll face when I was making it. It's also a prime example of how I make sprites too big, as the hat had to be downsized. I also had to do a face re-alignment because it was facing the screen directly which it shouldn't be.

Queen Chesset looks holy freaking ugly in its sprite. I think I did a good job in making it look better, and decided that the queen is better with a staff so the bishop isn't lonely. I actually think I did a pretty good job. Its definitely the bets of the six.

King Chesset's head crown thing had to be resized too. It was so big that even without shrinking the size to 80x80 pixels (because hardly any Black/White sprites actually need the full 100x100) it was too big. The final product is actually 99 pixels, even with the shrunken hat. I also think that its face was too hairy and gave it a nice trim. I'm actually quite proud of the sword and shield.

Note: I decided that Queen Chesset as well as King Chesset would use the full 100x100 pixels for their height, because they are definitely taller than the other pieces in real life.

The maximum size is only 95x95.
Hmmm... Read through this spriting guide so you can improve your outlines and your shading. It's kind of outdated, but the main difference between the older style and the current one is that the new style of sprites use less highlights, use less dithering, and generally use darker shading.

I actually think the pawn Chesset should hold a pike:

But then again that's just me referring to it being based off a pikeman in a chess rule book I have, I am not sure of how reliable the book is but I cant help looking at pawns that have been made real/realish and thinking that it should hold a pike.
