As Mary played with its Spearow which already climbed on its back, she went to the PokeMart. She knew the journey was going to be long, so she brought along 10 Pokeballs, 5 Potions, and 3 Antidotes, which were on bargain that day.

She heads out on Outset Road. Walks for a while until a Zigzagoon appeared.

"Oh, a raccoon! How was it called again? Zigzagoon? How cute! Let's capture it! Go Spearow!" Spearow jumped down from Mary's shoulder.
"Use growl!"

The Zigzagoon shuddered for a bit before retaliating. It flung itself at Spearow, thankfully missing its target by a small margin. It turned back to the Spearow and ran at it again, hoping to deliver another Tackle...

Spearow was hit by Zigzagoon's tackle making Spearow knock back. "Oh no my dear Spearow! Are you alright? Peck back at it!"
Spearow rushes over to Zigzagoon and pecks it angrily.

THACK! The Peck connects, striking Zigzagoon right in its bare underbelly. The Zigzagoon is stopped in its tracks, dazed, and it collapses to the ground.

The Pokeball dimmed. It seemed that the Zigzagoon had resigned to its fate, and had willingly let itself be captured.

"Oh we captured a Zigzagoon! Isn't that great, Spearow?" Mary happily walked on until she reaches Lilac Town. She walks into the Pokemon Center to heal her ppokemon and rest for tomorrow.

The morning sun shining brightly. Mary wakes up, and gets her stuff ready for the Gym battle... That's until she walks up to the door and notices someone blocking it up.

"What is it now? Can you let me pass through?"

Suddenly, from the forest around her, Mary hears the snarling of a pack of Pokemon. What they are... or how many of them, she doesn't know. All she knows is that they're looking at her, with their beady yellowed eyes.

She keeps on walking, but now she had cold sweat.

Just then, Spearow cawed in fright as a shadow jumped from out of the bushes. Only narrowly did Spearow avoid the nasty jaws of a wild Poochyena.

"Hawooooooo-o-o!" The Poochyena stared directly into Mary's eyes, piercing red pupils etching their way into her very soul. Spearow, of course, assumed the defensive as the Poochyena began to slowly walk toward the Trainer and her Pokemon. The Poochyena licked its lips maliciously.

"N-n-n-o, don't come any c-c-c-c-closer-r-r-r-..." Mary shivered of fear, and then she suddenly reacts: "Spearow! Quick! Peck it! NOW!"

Spearow jumps forward and pecks it with strength. On its way she sends out Zigzagoon to assist Spearow on its battle.

The Poochyena dodges Spearow's Peck and runs for an assault. Luckily enough, Zigzagoon aides Spearow by delivering a rather tough Tackle, knocking Poochyena back. That doesn't stop Poochyena, however, and it just gets back up and runs at Spearow again.

"Spearow, dodge!" Spearow makes a quick sidestep and dodges the horrible Poochyena's attack.

"Zigzagoon, Tackle! Spearow, Peck! Gang the Poochyena!" Both pokemons rushed to deal the strike onto Poochyena.
