Can we, just, like... ban them? For a bit, you know? There are far too many of them, and I think we need a break from Dragons that aren't really Dragons. (Locurse? Blague? They are BUGS and they are not DRAGONS.)

I agree. Actually, I think serpentine Pokémon should be banned. There's too many snakes!

Altaria, Vibrava and the Lati@s twins aren't much of dragons either. Pokémon came to us from Japan, and their concept of dragons is somewhat different from the Western concept. Regardless, I'll agree that Dragon ought to be a special type and the conditions for a Type Ban should probably be stricter for Dragon-types than for other types.

That said, though, Type Bans tend to be judged within a generation, and only two Dragon-types have actually been approved for the DP Archives thus far (The GSC Archives are also comparitively light on Dragons.) I see there are some Dragon-types waiting for approval in the forum; if we end up liking enough that the DP Archive becomes more Dragon-heavy, we'll consider doing something about it.

It's not just Japan really, but Eastern countries in general. The Hebrews considered the whale to be a dragon or really anything big, so while it doesn't make much sense to us there is probably a basis for some pokemon being dragon. Bulbapedia has a pretty good explanation for Altaria and the Latis twins. As for Vibrava, it is a dragonfly, so it makes sense to me. In any case, I agree that we should be more stingy about Dragon-type suggestions. We'll see how things pan out like Poryhedron said.

Even though I'm from the US, I picture dragons much differently than other people over here. Mainly because I'm in love with Greek mythology that has dragons of all kinds, including drakens, a type of humongous snake.
