It could. It would probably depend on what the pokemon is, and if the Sun Stone fits better than some other method. The Sun stone fits Bellossom because it's more focused on the sun (it dances in the sun and such) than Vileplume.

Perhaps it could be based on a sundew? It's a carnivorous plant, but pretty----with 'sun' in its name.

Drosibell? (Drosera---the sundew group---and bell, the suffix for the line.) It is possible that this one could be more...graceful than the others, thus it would retain 'bell' not for being bell-like (or particularly bell-like) but for being a belle. ---that is, charming and beautiful (in a female way). Otherwise, I have no idea how the 'bell' suffix could be retained, since actual sundews do not have bell structures.

*looks up sundews* Hmm, they do look completely different from pitcher plants, though, and digest insects differently, so I don't know if they make that much sense as an alternate evolution. Though a Venus Flytrap might work, if people would rather not use a different kind of pitcher plant.

How about the cobra lily? It seems to be another kind of pitcher plant. The 'tongues' are an interesting feature, too. I am not sure if other suggestions involve cobra-lily aspects, through.

Having the scarlet belle pitcher plant certainly makes things easier. Rosabelle (from the color, not the flower)? Savagelle? (Savage---which it could be made to be---/"bell/e"/gel---this being a sweet mucous for attracting insects, nectar, or alternatively a sticky, sap-like slime) Additionally, pitcher plants---at least, the type of pitcher plant we are conversing about, or a certain type of pitcher plant---grows flowers in the spring, so this one could have flowers on it.

Looks a but like a hydra-esque plant. Part dragon perhaps?

How about simply Scarbell/Scarbel (Scarlet belle)?

Then again, I've heared the name Defeetbel(l) (to match Victreebel) in many corners of pokémon fandom whenever an alternate Weepinbell evo was introduced.

Scarbell....makes "scar" obvious, and...unless Miravistel likes it...for it to feature or have affinities towards scars is incongrous. Defeetbel is...a deflating way to name it, also.

Perhaps we could base one on the cobra plant, which seems the most viable option here. Like with others in the Bellsprout line, we'd have to include the word "bell" in the name somehow... I'm thinking that maybe "Mistreebel" could work, since it could pose a mystery as to how such a thing evolved from Weepinbell.

Here's a fun fact that seems to support the Sun Stone Evolution: the Cobra Lily is unique among its relatives that it does not produce its own digestive enzymes, but relies on symbiotic bacteria.

Going along the lines of Gelatop's suggestion, how about Fragibell? That fact about the bacteria makes it great for a Sun Stone evolution and I think we go more along those lines. That way we can keep the two lines closer to each other.

I was thinking about the cobra plant as the base, and come up with an interesting idea: how about making the pokemon look both plant-like and cobra-like itself? Like, have the head and beginning of the body (neck?) based on the pitcher part, then turn into a long brown tendril (like the vine on Victreebell), with maybe a leaf at the end? I'll sketch up what I mean and have a picture in a sec...

Edit: Quick sketch of what I mean.

Although we'd probably have to find a way to add leaves on either side that still looked good, since each member of the family has that.
