Another Trilogy FTW. I think. I duno if this one's all that great.
So yeah, competitive Trainer. Which means using tactics. Like these. For the most part anyways. However, you don't have to do a Trainer with six Pokemon necessarily, it is possible to do just some competitive Pokemon. Yes, they must be legitimate. Use the awesome upgraded Moveset Calculator to find out the legitness of your Pokemon!

Lagging Tail
Synchronize
-Power Swap
-Guard Swap
-Trick
-U-Turn

I call it the Identity Swapper, because all it does is trade and flee. It is trained only in Speed EVs, so that the extremely low Stats of the two Attacks & Defenses can be traded away with Power/Guard Swap, respectively, and it's holding a Lagging Tail to Trick away to the opponent. There's really no point in Skill Swap, because it doesn't have a hindering ability. So, I gave it U-Turn so it can make a getaway after ripping the opponent off while damaging them too. It also works to get away from Dark types.

Always hotter than the competition. I got the award for Braving the Marquee of Doom!

Power Swap/Guard Swap only swap boosts, BTW. As in, you aren't gonna do anything with that set, and Xatu can't take a hit to use Trick anyway.

Yup, NARFNra has it down pat. Also, Power Trick and Guard Trick would still be useless, because the opponent would presumably just switch - all you're doing there is forcing a switch.

This is a pretty cool lead someone came up with - not mine though. All credit goes to Fish-E.

Replace Shadow Claw on Paingolin with Stone Edge. It's the easiest slot to lose because you've already got a Slowking counter... or three.

One question beforehand: Have you ever gone up against Slowking? In NU, that thing is beast. Slack Off + 130 Sp Def + 90 Def. And Calm Mind for the hell of it.

The best Xatu can do is 3HKO it, which is ineffective against it
Regice can only hope to outstall it, nearly impossible with it's lack of recovery
Nasty Plot from Ninetales MIGHT damage it decently.
Floatzel usually dies early.

I don't do competitive battling, so I'm confused by this. Why do you make Pokemon who can only counter other specific Pokemon?

Because they can wear the others down without needing to be designed to counter them.

In other words, the other pokemon don't need to be specifically designed to be countered, but these do.

You see, in competitive battling it's just a fact that some pokemon are easier to use than others, even with tiers like NU and UU and OU.
Therefore, if you look at the statistics, you'll see why I have so many counters for Slowking and Skuntank.
44.8% of all competitive NUers use Skuntank, and about 40% use Slowking. Primeape is down at around 34%.

The reason people make them designed specifically to counter them is because of the huge amount of people actually using them.

Oh, and elementalpenguin, I'll try out replacing Shadow Claw. Shadow Claw didn't really help much anyway.

Yeah! I thought Electrode was overused. Where did you get that info?
I´m glad 4/6 of pokémon on my team are not even in that list, makes it a bit unpredictable. I´ll just foreshadow that one pokémon in my team has the famous BoltBeam combo and another can take out Reversal Lucario and FEAR (if I recall correctly...) without sweating much.

Electrode WAS Overused. Then Diamond and Pearl came out, Physical Special split and all, bumped Electrode down to NU, although I think Electrode is UU now.

@NARFNra: I just had to search it right now, so you probably know the answer is no. In fact, I do not become aware of what my team lacks until regional tournaments.
Well, there is also Battle Revolution but there is no telling who you´re gonna battle, it could be a standard player, a newbie, an expert or a n00b (it´s fun to take down their Giratina/Dialga/Palkia teams though =D). And then there is my lil bro who is pretty good too! (he used the Lucario I speak about) Why do you ask?

I prefer the versatility they offer in terms of combative pluses. That, and I think it does the game a sort of poetic justice using a Butterfree and a Beedrill side-by-side.

NARFRNra, I'll battle! I've been looking for a battler on PF anyways. I'm a newb though, this is my third day.
@Sov: Why have Air Cutter on Beedrill? U-Turn goes to much better use on it than Bfree. Also, Bug Buzz and Silver Wind on the same set is lame - Sleep Powder and Stun Spore are good on a Butterfree because of Compoundeyes, use those. As for EVs, those Defense stats are going to waste - no one is going to physically attack you, and Butterfree is best as a support status user, so Speed is what you want. That item is also not the best, because Butterfree is still not going to KO anything.
A competitive Beedrill set - again no two moves of the same typing, that's just wrong. Replace Poison Jab with X-Scissor or if you want, U-Turn. Replace Air Cutter with Aerial Ace - Special moves are wasted on Beedrill. Again, the item - no one uses type items because it's too easy to wall. Life Orb is your best bet here.

Anyways, these are by no means inventive, but you'd be surprised how well these two work together.

Standard Hippowdon set, but its monstrous HP and Defense mean that I can switch it in to almost every lead that Ninjask doesn't KO, as Ninjask either KOs or can switch to Loom for all of the Special Leads except for Swampert, who is no problem because of the other members of my team. Ninjask will always get +5 speed to Hippowdon unless the opponent has a priority move. Hippowdon can then Curse multiple times and still outspeed things like Tyranitar and even 4 Spe Gliscor, and it can stall using Slack Off. The only thing that can take out this set, as said before, are Bulky Water types like Swampert with large Defense stats - even Suicune is 2HKO'd after Cursing, and Hippowdon's massive HP lets it survive one CM Surf. Ice Fang is for coverage on most everything, and EQ is obligatory stab. Dusknoir shuts it down though because of Burn, but you don't see him often anyways. Sub Petaya Empoleon too (whom I use).
