Would anyone be willing to mod a GBA/NDS rom into a Pokemon Factory game? I have no Modding skills whatsoever.

Well, you've gotta realize that there's a heck of a lot of pokemon in this dex, and they combine with the originals too, so you'd have to ADD data to the rom, which is currently unfeasible.

Actually Rom Hacking is technically not illegal if you own the Game to make the ROM legal, since you technically also bought all the code used in the game, and are allowed to edit it as long as you don't release it for a profit.

Hacking a ROM is not illegal, downloading it is.
But I´m pretty sure the worst you could do is selling a ROM, hacked or not.

No making a copy of a game is illegal even if you own the cartridge. Here is the "Important Legal Information" found inside the guide of any DS game:

"This Nintendo game is not designed for use with any unauthorized device. Use of any such device will invalidate your Nintendo product warranty. Copying of ANY Nintendo game is illegal and is strictly prohibited by domestic and international intellectual property laws. 'Back-up' or 'archival' copies are not authorized and are not necessary to protect your software. Violators will be prosecuted."

Also hacks are illegal. This is why the Chrono Trigger fan sequels have been forcibly canceled by Square Enix. Technically Nintendo can crack down are fan hacks if they want. Certainly if it got big enough they would.

Hacks like Shiny Gold and RijonAdventures have gotten huge, as huge as the shops here in China SELL ITS CARTRIDGES.
After all, nothing will happen to the PF if we share patches, not the entire rom.
Though, Malonkey, if you scroll through some pages in Creative Projects, you'll see that many has attempted hacks, and gave up.

I don't want to insult anyone from China, but it is notorious for piracy. This may be just because the governments tight control on things, but I don't know.

The reason the people gave up no the hacks, I think, is that they were too hard to make.

I know, I know. Nobody cares, though. I don't care. If someone did care, entire malls would have to be destroyed (not really). And, it is kinda nice to buy 80 cent (5 RMB) Wii games.

Technically I'm Canadian because I hold a Canadian passport and I don't like the Oriental Middle Kingdom a lot anyways, so by golly you can insult it if you want.

Point taken, but I still think this doesn´t make hacking a game illegal. Still, it´s pretty much pointless if you don´t make a back-up copy and distribute it.

But apparently there are some exceptions I wasn´t aware of and I´m not sure whether to believe. Ever heard of this huge site called Super Mario World Central? They speak about a SMW hack distributing process in which law is not broken (something about IPS patches), still they don´t give away the original Super Mario World ROM to keep their hands "clean."

Now don´t get me wrong: I do not hate the site. It´s nice to see some creativity at work by people who share a same passion, and don´t we all want to include some of our personal touches in official works of art? I´m not against sites like those, since their mission is to actually encourage you to buy the original products and they practically smack into your head to never sell the software they give. But still, illegal actions are illegal. That could also be the way people first hear about ROMs anyway. It´s sad sites like that have to pay for the people who just want to make profit without giving credit, or to make the best of a game without paying for it but that´s the way it is. Stuff is not just either black or white. (Oh great, now I´ll think of pokémon whenever I say that! XD)

I think it may be for the best to completely forget about ever getting a Pokemon Factory game. But, come to think of it, there is a Online Pokemon MMO that will get Bombur eventually and I guess that will be the closest thing to a game. I forget the name, but we do have a topic in the Feedback forum that talks about it.
