While I was walking in the forest next to my house, I saw a puffy yellow larva with large red eyes next to a street light. It seemed to enjoy it.
I called it Larvolt(Larva+volt). Have you seen it?

I think I have. I was taking a night walk on the more-forested outskirts of Bastion City when I saw a lamppost flickering. Out of curiosity, I looked up and saw a larva-like Pokémon hanging upside down on the bulb. It looked like it was chewing something with what seemed to be tiny mandibles, and sometimes its body would spark. It looked a little gross through, and seemed dangerous which was why I did not try catching it with a Poké Ball.

I saw one of those battery looking objects hanging from a lamppost outside my cabin near the road through the forest. I saw it open its eyes and thought it was a pokemon, so I called it Chrysalamp (CHRYSALis + LAMP) because it reminded me of a bug's cocoon.

Cool! Wait a minute, you mean the battery I saw in the foliage of a tree is a pokémon!? Oh so that´s why it was a Mouchetric nest! Well, since I´ve been hearing the root "Chrysalis" a lot in pokémon I call it Incuvolt (incubate+volt) not sure if it´s official though.

You know, I'm pretty sure Ampupa was what I'd heard them called! I seem to remember that you're not supposed to touch them, something about them containing a powerful Static charge or something...

And as for that Larvolt thing, I think they have a lot of names. Something like Boltorm(thunderBOLT+wORM)...

Or was it Shokrawl(Corruption of Shock + cRAWL? Maybe Elegot(ELEctric + magGot)?

I dunno, maybe they were Larvolt...

I will go on a night walk this evening, but this time I am bringing my rubber gloves---maybe I will encounter further Larvolt/Boltorm/Shokrawl.....

EDIT: I am back from my night walk. I did not see the electric larva at the same lamppost as last time, but I did see it nearby. I thought the lamppost's light was on, but it seemed to actually be broken---something was glowing inside the bulb. Maybe the Larvolt broke into the bulb---but it was not shaped like a Larvolt, the silhouette was shaped like a battery. I could have handled it this time, except for the fact I can hardly climb lampposts, rubber gloves or not. I could not take a picture of it, either, because it was too dark outside, even with its illumination.

Maybe the "battery pupa" was using the hollowed-out bulb as a nest? Maybe Rahjet saw one hanging outside of the lamppost because it was moving? I am not sure how something shaped like a limbless battery could move, unless it levitated---or used Magnet Rise.

It did look like it was moving around, but very slowly. Maybe it used magnetism to cling to the metal lamppost and shuffle itself along? Also, I was talking to my neighbor and he said he saw it too, but he was calling it Magnest (MAGNet + nEST). I dunno what it's supposed to be called at all anymore.

My resources down at Silph Co. commonly refer to it as Ampupa, and their extensive research has revealed that it learns Magnet Rise upon evolution from Larvolt. They also think these Pokémon, instead of spinning thread into a cocoon, rather eat metal which, once absorbed into their systems, gives them their battery-like shell.

That could have been why I saw the Larvolt eating something with its tiny mandibles at the lamppost. It might have been hollowing out the bulb for a nest, where it would reside as a slower Ampupa upon consuming and absorbing metal bits. I wonder if Larvolt has any predators----Kolibuzz uses so much energy to flap its wings, that stealing static from Larvolt or Ampupa---or simply consuming them, as even hummingbirds need protein---would be a convenient possibility.

Hey guys! I just saw a Larvolt get attacked by a Phealour on my way to work! But I saw it zap it with a Thundershock and escape! And as for that Ampupa everyone's talking about, I think I saw one get picked up and taken away by a Kolibuzz...

Maybe that is why Larvolt looks for a safe place to shelter in when it evolves into Ampupa. It seems that Ampupa is capable of movement---probably more movement than the average cocoon-like Pokémon---but it cannot levitate particularly quickly, so it has to hide. Maybe that is why it is so protective of its territory as a Mouchetric---it might hold a grudge against intruders and other attackers from its days as a Larvolt or Ampupa.

Careful observation on my part showed a Larvolt locked in fierce combat with a Tailow. I saw it use Thundershock, but only after it had Charged up some energy. Perhaps those are its two base moves?

No, for such a small Pokemon I don't think it can hold that much energy yet. I don't think it gets the ability to Charge until it's a Mouchetric (what's funny is that level 10 is the exact level it learns the move, and I think this line works like the other Bug lines with cocoons evolving at 7 & 10)

I see... So then maybe it wasn't charging... But then, what could it have been doing. Maybe I was just seeing things... But then, if one looks at Mouchectric's move list, Thundershock and Growl are its two Start Moves... Does this mean that Larvolt and Ampupa can Growl?

It is possible Larvolt could----it looks a little gross. I am not sure about Ampupa, through---being a cocoon Pokémon, its moveset would seem limited. I think it is plausible that Larvolt could use Thundershock, due to its Electric type and the electrical glow it sometimes emanated.

We'll simply change Mouchetric's move list if these get approved. Its move list isn't fitting for a pokémon that evolves from a larva and pupa stage.
